| can i re house-train my yorkie?? i just got my lily last week from this lady that couldn't take care of her anymore, and she is already settled in. at her old home, she was paper trained (just like being litter trained), but here she hasn't ever used it. do i have to completely retrain her, or will she catch on? can i speed up the process? (by the way...she is 2) |

Thor's Human Donating Member | It's very common for yorkies to regress when they come into a new situation. Thor forgets all his (very hard earned!) training for a day or so if I even move furniture around. You need to start from scratch, but she will probably re-learn very quickly. Time to get the crate out.

| I got one of my girls when she was 1 1/2 years old & she was never potty trained.....I thought it would never happen....but it did. You have to treat it as if you are training a puppy. If you want them trained to only use the bathroom outside, you have to committ to being able to take them outside frequently until they are., etc. My girls are both outside and pad trained. Anyway, I have had her for 1 year and she is now potty trained. Quicksilver is right...they learn quickly so just commit to doing it and it will be done before you know it... Just think of all the rescues people get at 2, 3, 4 + years old. Good Luck!!
