| Nipping Ok, I've had a lot of dogs in my life. I'm a vet tech for goodness sake lol. But my 10 week old baby girl has me lost! She has decided she does not want to be brushed. She'll actually nip at the brush and me. She's not knotted or matted at all. She'll let me trim her with the scissors but when it comes to the brush she get's all vicious! Any suggestions? |

| My Scooter was the same when I first got him. I just continued with the brushings and let him nip away. After about a week, he realized I wasn't hurting him and stopped fussing. Now when I take out the brush, he's the first one in my lap! He was the same with the clippers, hairdryer, etc. He loves all aspects of grooming now.

| that was my plan. she's been doing the usual puppy chewing and biting but today she actually broke the skin on my 6 year olds hand and made her bleed. She's in a mood today. Can;t wait til those teeth get thru |

| What I did with my yorkie who was anxious about grooming at first, was to actually take her to a professional groomer. Find someone you can trust , and let that person get your baby use to being groomed a few times before you attempt yourself. Then , your Yorkie will be a lot calmer for you . Before taking her to get groomed by a professional , make certain she has all of her vaccinations.

| She's a little baby You're coming at her with a thing with teeth on it that's almost as big as she is ... of course she's going to bite it But you have to be able to brush your dog Suggestions Get her used to having the brush around ... every once in a while just bring it out and let her see it and sniff it when you want to brush her bring out a chewy that will have her perfect attention and while she is going at it brush her lightly .... lightly at first if she is matted don't pull on her hair That will traumatize her and you can forget brushing her after that

| Joey P has some great advice. That's pretty much exactly what worked for me. If it's done every day, with something delicious, she will very soon find it a pleasurable experience. Really, really important not to pull any tangles though! Mine now runs and jumps on my lap as soon as she sees the brush come out... she will actually follow me around the house when I'm carrying it, as if it were a tasty treat. But it's important at first to ensure that she is comfortable with having the brush near her, before it is used on her. Best of luck |
