| How long can he go without doing #1 Hello everyone. I just brought my yorkie home a week ago he is 11 weeks now. He is doing great in potty training going to his wee wee pad. At night I use the crate and crate him to have him in my room. I wake up every 3 hours to take him out to pee. My question is how long at this age can they go without going to pee at night? He is pretty good when I take him out he goes within 3 min max to pee. I set the alarm every 3 hours to take him out at night. I was wondering since he is a week shy of 3 months can he now go every 4 hours at night? Or is that still too long to wait? I have him on a playpen I purchase for him in the daytime when I cannot watch him. I only crate him at night. |

| For a three month old, four hours should be fine for him. I beleive they say take the months and add one and thats how many hours they can wait. So four hours should be perfect. I'm not sure if you said your crating him or not, but this will help him hold it if necessary, if the crate is small enough he wont go potty in it. Also, they say baby pups need to go 30min to 1hr every time they eat and play hard. My 9 1/2 month old is still this way. Just something to keep in mind Alot of people take their dog's food bowls away after 7ish so they wont have to go during the night. This might help you, too.

| I think it all depends on the dog. When Lola was 4mo she was able to hold it all night. It also depends on how much water they drink before bed.

| It was right around 4mo old I think that Nikko first started holding it most of the way through the night. I think by 12 weeks he was going about four hours at a time through the night (but definitely not during the day, of course). Maybe if you aren't too heavy of a sleeper, and your pup hasn't been wetting his crate, you could skip the alarm and try letting your pup wake you. If he needs to pee, he should hopefully whine at you to let him out, and maybe if you're lucky he'd prefer to wait longer between pees when he's sleeping. Lauren & Nikko |
