| My yorkie girls ears where up when I got her at 12 wks and never had a problem with them. She is now 2 1/2. On the other hand I just purchased a Biewer Yorkie 2 months ago and her ears are droopy. I had her ears shaved and they still remained droopy. She is approaching 5 months old on the 15th and I'm getting worried that they will never stand up. Is it too late to tape them? |

| I'm not an expert by all means but from what I've read you need to do it before 6 months. Good Luck |

I have found with my puppies depending on the size and thickness of the leather on the ears that some of my puppies are born ears up and never go down they are the ones that are going to be smaller and have a thinner ear leather. Then the babies that have a thicker ear leather and larger ears it can take up to 4-6 months keeping them trimmed to come fully up. Usually rule of thumb is if you breed 2 yorkies that the ears are down the puppies will have down ears. If you breed 1 yorkie with up and 1 down you have a 50 50 chance in the puppies. But I am sure there are yorkies that this is not always true LOL ! You know yorkies they have a mind of their own And also if I see a puppy that has larger ears I will shave the whole ear and make sure to trim alll the way on the V . It will grow back. But the weight has to go if you want them to stand But the peanut clipper I have found in the 30 years I have trimmed ears and bottoms works the best and so easy to handle Hope this helps some~ Shawn | |

| Also you can have a puppy that one or both ears come up then two days later one is down That is usually when they are teething. Also when you are looking at your puppy you can usually tell if they will come up you will see an arch from the ear starts at the head that is a good sign that they will come up. If the ear is really flat to the head you might have to work at it. I use treats and toys to get them to look up at me and get excited so when they tip there head up to look at me I can see if they stand that way also (Gravity LOL ) But that is a good sign also~ |
