| ![]() Yesterday morning, as normal, our five month old Lucy jumped up on the bed to wake up my husband. She had already been out with me, urniated and pooped. When she was up on the bed, she stopped, looked at me and urinated on the sheets. Then again, today, after coming in from a very long walk, my bed comforter was hanging on the floor and she went right over and urinated on it. I am so frustrated, she is my second yorkie and nothing like my first one. She has been extremely difficult to train and now I cannot understand why she is chosing to urinate on my bed and bed coverings. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking about getting rid of her. |

| ![]() she could possibley have a urinary tract infection, you might want to check that out with the vet before you "get rid of her" are you haveing other problems with her?? Yorkies are known for being more difficult to train than other dogs, so it takes patience and more patience. All dogs are different so she just may need more time in training if she does NOT have a UTI. Please call your vet.... Good Luck... Sharon, PIXI & SPIKE.. PS>>>> I have two 5 month old pups, siblings and they have accidents but I understand they are still in training. |

![]() Mine cant get up there & was totally my fault for leaving her on the bed while i answered the phone. I just make sure to leave a puppy pad down in the bedroom and dont have the peeing on the comforter problem anymore, but if my comforter is hanging off the bed-she will pee on it. I think she gets confused...she knows she has to pee ON something, but it also tipped me off that she needed to use pee pads. The part that sucks though is I cannot have any throw rugs at all in the house cuz she'll pee on them. Since Lucy is only 5 months old, maybe you just need to give her some time & just try to out smart her. If she hasnt done this in the past and its a new thing, maybe she should get evaluated to make sure she isnt having a problem with her urinary tract. I think it should be expected that a 5 month old yorkie is going to have accidents from time-to-time though. | |

| ![]() I would need more of a background on how you are training her, etc, to understand WHY she is doing this exactly. But if a dog is peeing on your bed... first things first: DON'T let the dog sleep on your bed. She's obviously not potty trained yet so I wouldn't take the risk. Crate her at night or put her somewhere where she cannot get on the bed. She will probably whine and cry if she is used to sleeping with you guys but you can't give in. Her scent is obviously on the comforter now so she will continue this habit unless you wash really thoroughly to get the urine smell out (dogs can still smell it- even when humans can't) Peeing can also be a sign of showing dominance or sometimes if dogs are angry, sad, upset, they will pee. She may be trying to dominant you guys and tell you she is the pack leader, so she goes and squats on your bed and marks her territory. It is NOT just a male thing to do. Try to show her your boss. Work on training and obedience with her - it always makes for a better dog. If you let us know what training you have done with her thus far and your method of correction when she potties somewhere she is not supposed to, I could help more. I really would hate for you to "give her away." SO many dogs end up homeless, in shelters, or euthanized because the OWNER never took the time to train their dog and the dog became out of control, leaving them no other option. There is always time to train your dog, no matter what age, and yours is still so young and able to learn. Some dogs just take more time than others.

| ![]() Oh my dont get rid of her for her accident!!! She is still very young and as someone mentioned yorkies are typically harder to train. I thought my Harley was on his way to mastering the potty training and he started going in the house again! I thought what is wrong with him, well nothing was wrong with him!!! It was me that needed to be trained!!! LOL I let him have free run of the house too soon and so we started all over. Since she went potty so soon after she had gone outside I would take her to the vet. They can tell you if she has any infection.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Unless you cleaned the spot with an enzyme cleaner, she's going to think your bed is a giant pee pad. The protein in urine gives off a smell that attracts dog to the same spot. This is why it's so easy to train them to go on pee pads. Regular cleaners don't get rid of this protein, you must use an enzyme cleaner that contains special bacteria that actually "eats" the protein. I use Nature's Miracle, but there are other enzyme cleaners. Some people say they added a cup of white vinegar to the wash, but I had no luck with that. By the way, with the enzyme cleaners, you spray the spot, and allow to dry naturally, and wash as usual.

| ![]() we too had this with sophie inher first year, she would run into the bedroom and pee on th bed just because she could !! (doors were open all the time ) usually when we were watching t v and not her !!we came to the conclusion it was a dominance thing !!,we took a tough stand and have had only one more "accident" since, she is now 18 months old. persivere it will be worth it !! |
