| To bed or to crate, that is the question It's time to go to sleep. Joey is curled up in his bed in the living room. Sadie is curled up on the blanket on the sofa. I'm about to curl up in my lonely bed. Both have their own crates in my bedroom where they get "tucked in" every night. Tonight, it's cold and they look so snuggly, I would love to let them sleep in my bed. Would one night ruin the good routine I got going? They sleep through the night without a peep. So confused.

| Oh well, I guess this was not a very exciting topic. I think I'll stick to the crate.

| I think the same thing at bedtime. Should I let Kinsey sleep with me or crate her so she doesn't get into anything while I am asleep. |

| Yeah, one night may not ruin the routine, but one night may lead to multiple nights and that may ruin it (happened w/ us)... but we forced the crate back into the routine... now he sleeps with us almost all the time, but we sometime use the crate still because when we leave him at the sitters (my sisters) she doesn't let him sleep w/ her so its good to keep him in the habit of using the crate. Sometimes he'll even jump down and climb into sleep himself.

| I agree it is easier for my daughter to take care of Kinsey when she is put in her crate. I don't want to spoil a good sleeping routine. And I can have the whole bed to myself! lol |

| Oh congratulations on your new baby! Does that make number 3 or 4? I'm still up and still on YT when I should be asleep. Got both dogs next to me. Still debating on the crate thing.

Senior Yorkie Talker | bentley was attached to me from the moment we brought him home that he never ever slept in his crate...and he is just so cute i had to sleep with him and wouldnt have it any other way! he is potty trained to hold it till morning so we dont usually have accidents and there is nothing for him to get into in the bedroom, its puppy proof. the crate is in my room but the only time he goes in there is if he is hiding from me or when he doesnt feel good. moral of the story is, i dont think that having your babies sleep with you for one night will do anything bad for them in the way of ruining the habit, but i think YOU will be the one to get attached to having them sleep with you and there is nothing wrong with that!

| the crate thing didn't last long with Ellie. She prefers the big bed and fuzzy blankets with someone to cuddle. Forget the crate and ruin the routine!

| The Cat sleeps on the bed and the cat is not ready for sharing....yet. So we let Lexi watch the news on the bed then move her to the crate. |

| We tried letting one sleep with us a few years back, hubby said nope, not going to work. They have their beds that are made for dogs and we have our own, so, everynight, they crawl in to their beds at bedtime, and we rub their bellies and cover them up. People talk about leashes and how dogs should walk along side or behind(our instructor taught us to have them walk on our left side, but, this is telling them they're equivalent to you, by letting them sleep with you. |
