Pee Pads When using pee pads, do you toss them as soon as they have been used once? I thought that I read somewhere that leaving their scent on the pad helps them remember what it is for. If my little guy uses his pad and I don't change it, he will pee on the floor next to it next time and not on it! At least he is close just not close enough. Because he likes to chow on bunny droppings, I want to keep him inside trained instead of outside trained.

I have been pee pad training my little one... and usually will use just 1-2 disposable pad for the day. I was told that keeping the soiled one does help them to learn to go in the same spot. If you have been changing them everytime your baby uses it, then it's going to get used to going on a clean one. Buddy, from time to time, will go next to the pad, and not on it if it gets too soiled. Pee pad training, just like any training is going to take some time. My Buddy still has accidents, and each time we catch him, we correct it..so just continue using the pads, and place your baby on it when it has to go...they will learn with time.

Thank you. Teddy is pretty much going potty outside but in the event that I cannot get to the door fast enough I have the pad on the floor. He did use it once this morning but the rest of the day has been outside. I will have to see if he re-uses it later tonight or tomorrow.

I have been using the disposables and I leave them up for the day. The new baby, seems to find it a lot easier with some scent on it. He is just turning 3 months and I think he has almost got it down.

Hooray! Teddy just peed on the pad that he used earlier! I will change it before bed and see how we do tomorrow.

Thor's Human Donating Member | Yeah! You go, Teddy! I usually pick them up as soon as Thor uses them, especially if he poops on it. I pick the poop up separately and flush it. Before throwing away the used pee pad, I will blot one corner of the new one with Thor's urine. He definitely sniffs around before he uses it. I've heard that dogs don't like using heavily soiled pads, so I try to maintain a balance between clean and dirty.

Hannah will tear her pee pee pads up after using them twice. She will not poop on the pads if she has already used them. I usually dispose of them after she uses it the second time.
