| ![]() Where there's a will there's a way...it can be done. Winston is proof, I swear he'd explode before he pottied in the house. I'm telling you he was a breeze to train...I feel so fortunate!!!

| ![]() I know that this is the hard part. Mitzi is such a love. She is very attached to me and is very affectionate. The breeder, whom I've remained friends with has SIX! She said that Mitzi is testing her Dad. That's it nothing that I'm doing wrong. I always tend to beat myself up. |

| ![]() I had a male yorkie that housebroke completely in a few weeks. He lived to be 13 and we never had accidents. Piper has been really hard to train. Just when you think she is trained she seems to regress. She is 10 months old and if you asked me last month I would have said she is 90% trained. The last couple days she has had quite a few mistakes. You let her out she poops and you know she should pee and she doesn't. Bring her back in and she goes. I think I'm going to have to just stay out until she pees. I think she just gets distracted and forgets what she is suppose to do. I'm back again to saying do pee pees until she finally goes. I'm convinced that females are 100% harder to train than males. I've had through the years 3 male mini poodles and 1 male yorkie and all of them trained very easily. Not so with the Piddler. I hope that someday I can say Piper is housebroken.

| ![]() You may be onto something with the females being easier to train. I had a toy male poodle, Mocha and I don't remember him being this hard to housebreak, although I was much younger then. Mitzi is the opposite of Piper, she pees outside almost on command 'make good piddles' and she does. ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Boy, I don't know what to think with all of this! ![]() We have a nearly 7 month old Silky that we were told was pee pad trained. NOT! She has accidents on the pad and goes on purpose everywhere else. LOL We have got to figure something out soon. She has to be an indoor dog, no going outside to potty. If we confine her to a small area, like a portable pen, then she will just hold it and not go. Today we thought we would just be tough and not let her play outside the pen until she went. She ate breakfast and has drank several times, a lot of water, and still didn't go until we let her out at 2pm. Then she promptly ran and went potty on the floor as we chased after her. ![]() Tracie |

| ![]() I'm convinced that it is a 'terrier' thing. I believe that they are harder to train than other breeds. I encourage you to continue reading through these blogs, I constantly pick-up things - like the size matters; the smaller the dog the longer it takes for them to get it - males appear to be easier than females, positive reinforcement - treats when they get it right, etc, and most of all, patience. Mitzi loves being outside. We are in a heavily wooded area and I cannot let her out unsupervised. This morning, at 5:30, I could hear the owls in the distance, of course Mitzi could care less. Terriers are tenacious. ![]() |
