Im desperate. my roxi turns 7 months old tmrw and she pottys all over the place. yesterday she decided it would be fun to poop on the couch. she also thinks its cute to pee next to my fiance's foot... not very cute at all... we find pee all over the place and i think i get more exercise from cleaning up after her than with anything else. my fiance actually potty trained her to the trayed pad and it worked for a while with an occasional accident. then out of nowhere she decided to start tinklin everywhere she could think of including the sofa. she has even rubbed off on our other puppy jojo (a jack russell). im close to givin up... i really dont know what to do anymore... advice pleaseeeee

My baby poops while she is kind of walking, she will not stay still while she is going! Kinda of funny with the exception that she usually does this in the house, then if I catch her in the process she will not finish outside!

Anyone have any tips on how their getting their babies to go potty in the rain? My new little girl ignores the potty pads inside and refuses to move when its raining (its been raining all day!) I've tried standing outside with my huge umbrella, staying under the covered ledges of the house... can't get her to go. I don't want to keep her crated all day. My last house we had a covered deck that Finnigan could use when it rained, and our new house we have no area. Any suggestions?

My Sadie does that also. I'm told that is a very strong Yorkie trait.

Penny is way off the wagon.

She is going every were all of a sudden. We got the Pet Loo in yesterday, and she doesn't mind playing on it, but has no clue she should potty or poop on it.

We are leaving on a trip at the end of the month, so we decided we would continue with the pad training, right next to the Loo, and work on Loo training at the end of May when we return.

Our hope is that she will hop on it and go and decide she will like it. Oh, who are we fooling! LOL

We put a small piece of poop and some urine on the Loo to attract her, so maybe she might try it.

Right now we would be thrilled if she would just use the pad.

Pottying in the rain does seem to be a little tricky. We tried putting a little slicker type jacket over Nikko's back, which if it helped, we couldn't tell. Generally if it's raining, he refuses to walk, espeically at first. So on the rare occasions that it does rain here, we carry him the 5 feet to the area of the yard that is usually his favorite to pee in. He looks pitifully up at us, maybe even tries to climb on the tops of our shoes to avoid paw wet-ness, whines, tries to get back to the door, etc. Then after a couple minutes of us repeating "go potty" and moving away from him in small circles when he tries to climb on our shoes, he eventually decides that he'd better just hurry up and pee so we will let him back inside.

After he would finally pee in the rain, his biggest reward was that we immediately picked him up and headed back inside, though of course we never forgot the yummy treat and tons of praise either.

I know, no magic rain solutions here, but maybe that'll help a little bit... just be persistant. They're going to have to deal with rain occasionally if they're outdoor potty trained, so it might as well start now. Just remember to do your best to not give into whining - teach her that peeing will get her back inside, not whining. And don't forget to use a leash...

All this going outside in inclement weather is why we got the Pet Loo. I sure hope Penny decides the Loo is a GREAT place to go eventually. We would still rather change pads than have to go outside all the time with the dog. You guys have much more patience than I do!

Thor is on Day 9 according to my count. I've moved the box barriers as far back as they've ever been. My kitchen and dining room are completely clear, except that I've barricaded the sitting area. I think all those table and chair legs would be too much temptation for my weak-willed boy. I've also granted him access to about 15% of my bedroom.

I want to go really slow on the remaining areas because they are not in my direct eyeline. I'll have to figure out if I can put another potty pad down somewhere too.

Penny has never gone outside for bathroom reasons. We take her out for fun every few days.

I think the only thing that changed is stress in our household. I really believe these sweet critters feel our stress and react to it. Penny suddenly started going all over the place, and still on her pad too.

Yesterday she went 100% on the pad.

We have the pad next to the new Pet Loo that a wonderful YT person sold to us. We decided to let her get used to the Loo, encourage her to use the Loo, but not train her to use the Loo until June when we get back from California.

We thought it would be confusing to train her to fake grass and then go to CA for 3 weeks and use pads again. I guess we will have to figure out how to do this once she is trained to the Loo and we go another year to CA and try to use pads.

We will cross that bridge when we get there. LOL

Anyway, the other thing that changed is for one day we opened up our 6' x 20' hallway connected to the kitchen for her to run around on. She went potty 2 times and poop once at the end of the hall and then also pooped in the kitchen laundry room. The pad was right there in the kitchen and she just didn't use it. We blocked the hallway again and it took a day for her to get back to using the pad. Weird.

My baby girl does not like the grass to potty in, she would prefer the sidewalk! But now she has found the mulch, every time I take her to the mulch she will pee or poo! I am going to make her, her very own mulched potty spot that will not have flowers or shrubs and hope that she likes it as well. We live in TN and we have had a cold spell and rain lately so the grass seems as big as she is and its wet! The mulch is a flat surface in comparison to the grass. We are so excited and now that she is going to potty outside in the mulch she has stopped pottying in her crate, with the exception of night! Very exciting- I hope this may help someone else!

Yay! She's helping the mulch, and the mulch is helping her.

I was just making myself lunch, and Thor was squatting on his pad. I was just about to praise him when I saw a big log about six inches off the pad. I think he was doing the infamous poop walk.

So I guess I won't count today in his potty-free days. I'm not going to start over, because I think his heart was in the right place, even if the poop wasn't.

Thor of course was tremendously excited and kept jumping up and down to tell me I'd forgotten to give him his treat. No, Thor. I did not forget.

Spring as finaly arrived and Zipper is doing the stair from the sun deck down to the grass ( about 15 steps) He was climbing up but not down. Now that the rain and snow have stopped for a few days he is outside much of the day exploring the gardens and the pond. The pond makes me nervous as he tries to drink from it. An accident waiting to happen. I always go out when he is out.

Well, I posted earlier that Bonnie was confined to my garden tub when I first got her. She had her potty pad on one end and bed on the other. She never had an accident in her confined area.
I sat in the bathroom floor with her every morning and night playing with her. There was a pad on the bathroom floor. She did a great job using the pad while she was running loose in the bathroom.
Then we branched out into my bedroom each evening. I sat in the floor with her and she played. Before she could go in the bedroom, I would say "Potty on your potty pad, Bonnie". AND SHE WOULD. Of course there is the usual treats and potty praise. LOL When we were in the bedroom, she would go back to the bathroom to use her pad. She now stays in her xpen when I am gone.
WELL, yesterday she got a bath, and we were sitting on the couch snuggling. I let her down to play, but I was watching her like a hawk. In a minute she took off running. I thought "What is she running for?" I followed her into the bathroom, and there she was pooping on her pad. I was so happy I thought I would burst with pride. HAHA
So last night my MIL and FIL came over for supper and I gave her free time in the main area of the house. She ran back to the bathroom to pee on her pad. OH I am excited about the possibility of her being a "free" dog

Maybe yesterday was not a fluke! Bonnie was in the living room with me. She ran through the breakfast area, down the hall, through the utility room and to the bathroom, and pooped on her pad. I am just holding my breath, hoping that this is the "real thing".

Oh, and she is getting spayed Thursday. I have heard that some pups have a potty training set back after their spay
