| Hates to be groomed! Help! My 4 month old baby girl Hates, HATES to be groomed! I've tried given her treats, and telling her what a good she is, but she still trys to bite the brush and run away! Also, she loves to chew on me and my husband's hands! Her little teeth are getting too sharp for this! We've tried to stop her by saying "NO" and ignoring her for awhile, but she doesn't stop! Now, she's just stopped eating her food! I've even put a little bit of wet food over it which she used to love, but now she just smells it and walks away! I feel like we're going backwards not forwards! HELP! Need advice!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome! What I do with mine is every night I put them up on the little table top grooming table I have and spend at least a few minutes grooming them and then reward them and say good groom. Eventually they get use to it.

| Hmmm.... sounds like someone needs a bit of shot of alpha dog in the arm I had a dog years ago who was a great dog But when anyone in my family would come at him with a comb... he'd become vicious I asked his groomer one time how was he? She said ... oh he was fine (?????) A lot of it is how you hold the dog and how you present the actual grooming If you hold them sturdy and treat this as something THAT IS GOING TO BE DONE then you won't have a problem Puppies are going to do this stuff They get wiggly when you groom them ... they think it's a game and they bite and chew That's where the steady grasp comes in I often hold my guys at the neck I turn them over I have one pup who loves being groomed and when he sees the brush he comes running The other one hates it ... but he still stays still for me

| Grooming problems First, you might try throwing her a piece of food at a time. Make a game out of it. Mine loved this and still does on occassion. My Zekie is now 8 mo. old and just getting so he doesn't mind being groomed. I have really had to fight with him, and he definitely looks for that treat when I am done with him. I think it just takes time, more time with some than with others. He still hates the look of sissors. I am sure he would really freek if I came near him with clippers. |

| What about not eating and itchy booty?! Thanks everyone for the advice! I will continue to work with her. I think she does think it is a game! lol! I'm still concerned about her eating! She will not touch her food! Today will be the second day! I don't know what to do! Also, she's been scratching and licking her self around her booty and even starting to sit weird on the floor, as if that relieves her. I don't know! I looked at her and I can't see anything abnormal! Does she has worms?! Someone help! |
