| ![]() i use those begging bacon strips. Charlie loves them. However b/c he is small, i break it into little tiny pieces. One regular piece last me 3 days. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() I'm currently using "Paws Gourmet Soft Training Treats", Kickin' Chicken flavor. ![]() I think you can pretty much use anything for a training treat, as long as it tastes as good or better than the dog's regular food. It should be small enough that the dog can quickly eat it and won't fill up before the training session is over. You should also keep in mind how much of the treat your dog is likely to consume during the training session: too much fiber or fat could upset the dog's stomach, too much in general may make your dog fat or make him pickier at meal times. I used to take a slice of meat from my lunch sandwich and cut it into little bits. I've heard of people using apples, carrots, green beans, cheerios, turkey, chicken, roast beef, hot dog bits, cheese, and even the dog's regular meal. Some people feed part or all of their dog's daily kibble during a training session. Last edited by QuickSilver; 01-18-2009 at 08:17 PM. |

| ![]() I used Nature's Recipe Training Treats a lot and Zuke's Mini Naturals. I don't think there is one thing better than the other... it mainly depends on the taste of your dog.

| ![]() I have spent a lot of money trying to find a treat my puppy would eat for training. Come to find out...she LOVES cheerios. The plain ones. They are absolutely wonderful(and inexpensive), and OK by my vet. ![]() |

| ![]() QuickSilver's advice is perfect. ![]() ![]() ![]() My guys will work for just about anything at home even their dinner kibbles -- but they draw the line at celery. ![]() Keep it fun and short training sessions. Like during the ads on TV.

| ![]() I used Nature's recipe and Lil bill in the past. But when I took Mia to puppy classes the trainner gave her some of her treats and after that she did not want my treats anymore. I had to ask the trainer what was she using because my treats were not motivating her at all anymore. Well now I use Pet botanicals (beef and Rice) Its really food and comes in a big sausage looking thing. I cut it into pieces and put it in a zip bag. It has to be put in the fridge after you open it. Mia goes crazy and she would do anything to get a piece of her new treats. Good luck finding a treat that your baby likes. Marlene & Mia |
