Yorkie Talker | Getting Yorkie Young well we got our yorkie at 5 weeks old and she has done great!. we are home all day, I have a nice pen set up for her with her bed on one side potty pad on other side I put a kennel in there just incase she wants to go in it, and she does, I put her food and water on another side. when we brought her home she immediately went to her little bed and has loved it ever since. her routine is, she gets up about 6:30 in the morning after sleeping the whole night. then she gets up goes directly to her potty pad and pees and poops.very good about that. then while she is doing that I get her food ready at first I was soaking her puppy food then adding about a tbls. of puppy milk,I buy in a can, just since she was so young when I got her. then about three to four times a day we take her in the family room and let her play hard with her toys and ball her favorite toy is a paper towel holder, she has more fun with that rolling it around a hundred miles a minute. What I am trying to say they keep saying that you should not bring a Yorkie home before 12 weeks, well that to me is much to long in the invironment she was in, she was much happier the day we brought her home. she is doing excellent, and very much loved, oh and we let her play hard before bed and make she has eaten and pottied, I do rock her a little and put her in her bed cover her and turn out all lights and she sleeps all night which has surprised us .she is now 7 weeks old and like I said doing great |

Yorkie Talker | mama quit nursing Well not sure what kind of breeder she is for letting us take Lucy at 5 weeks. All I know is the mama had quit nursing. and she is by far better with me. I am saying I got my little doxie at 5 weeks she did great also and she lived to be 16. Lucy is doing just fine, she never cried once for her mama or siblings, we brought her home and she went directly to her new little soft bed instead of a dirty swimming pool and no toys, she has lots of toys now and is very happy. She is eating good and gaining weight she will go soon for her first shots I will have vet check her over and I will let you know how that turned out Last edited by arlene Baker; 01-19-2018 at 06:26 PM. |

Yorkie Talker | Reason for 12 weeks? I do want to know exactly why they have to be with their mama till they are 12 weeks the mother to my Lucy had quit nursing them. but I want you to give me the reasons why for 12 weeks?? I have given her supplement milk for her 1st and second week with me just a little to make sure she is getting what she needs, like I said she never fussed once for her mama and siblings she has been very content here and doing everything here that she would be doing there amongst to many dogs big dogs running in and out of the not such a clean house ,At 12 weeks she would be getting much more attached to that household, and I am sure she would have many more problems, she is paper trained already that was due to us, she would still be running around that house pooping and peeing everywhere not learning a thing,so please since you seem to know alot about them please Tell me why they need to be there for 12 weeks?? I need answers. she plays hard here and she sleeps well in her own little bed and as soon as she gets her first shots I will be taking her out to socialize her. |

| While I am no expert I too have read that they definitely should be with mama for 12 weeks. In a perfect world all pups would get the 12 weeks with mama but we all know ours is not a prefect world. So since the situation is what it is, it is good to see that you are doing your best to make sure that this furbaby gets the best possible chance to lead a long and healthy life. While I cannot give any advice on a baby that young I know that many people on this board have helped rescue young ones from the "greeders" that exist out there. In addition to the shots advice maybe some our more knowledgeable members can share and help make sure this furbaby gets every chance it deserves to grow up strong and healthy. Good luck!

YT 500 Club Member | Sleeping & working is way to long for the baby to be alone. Yorkies are people dogs. They are NOT happy being alone. Let her sleep in your room, she needs to know and you are there. As for working outside the house, it is what it is. Good luck.
