| Aim issues. Hi guys. I know this is a frequently asked question, but I haven't found quite what I'm looking for in other threads so I figured it was worth a shot in a new thread. Walker is 5 months and is potty trained both inside and out. He's going "on" his potty pads inside 95% of the time. The problem is that by "on" I mean that his front legs are the only legs on the pad, so he usually hits right next to the pad or half on half off. his is the situation half the time, the rest of them time he gets all four limbs on the pad before peeing. He doesn't lift his leg (thank heavens) he pops a squat. Any hints or ideas on how to get him to get his whole body on the pad everytime before he pees? I don't want to yell at him because he has the right idea. lol he's sooooo close. We don't have any problems with pooing or peeing on carpets etc. just an aim issue. Thanks everyone! |

| I feel ya! lol Gizmo had an aim issue also. He eventually just figured it out and while we did several things to help, I'm not sure which one (if any) helped. I think the treats made the biggest difference, but I can't be sure. -larger washable pad underneath -wrote a mark in the middle of the pad with a sharpie -rewarded with a treat when he made it all of the way on the pad and no longer when he was simply "close" Someone suggested filling an empty water bottle with sand and putting it in the middle of the pad for him to aim at, but gizmo just thought it was a toy and just kept dragging it off of the pad and around the room. lol! It might work for you though. Another suggestion I was given was to put the pad in a box with sides like a kitty litter box. That sounded like a great idea, but I never actually tried it. Good luck.

Great tips! Joey never really like disposable pads, I don't know if he didn't like walking on them or what, but I had this problem with disposables, so I switched to washable pads. He's dead center now.

| I tried the bottle. And it was a toy right off. haha. Thing weighs as much as he did and he dragged it all around. I ordered Washable pads from a member on here (I don't remember who...my bad) They aren't here yet. I'm hoping that those will help. Hopefully he'll get it. Its just like those last 2 inches that are oh so close. Thanks for the tips though. We'll keep trucking. |

| It might have been the washable pads then. Hmmm...it was about that time that we made the switch from disposable to washable.

| Wiz is the same way ..half off ,half on . I have a pee pad in a holder so I put another one underneath it with extra jutting out on the side so when he misses it catches the overflow. The best part though is when he just goes outside !!! |

| I just asked this one about a week ago in someone else's post... And the answer I liked the best was to use the bottom of a kennel to put the pee pad on, this way if they miss (and my Daisy girl is always going on the edge) the pee may be contained (if they dont miss too bad). To tell you the truth, I have not instituted this potential solution yet, however, since I'm kind of worried about scaring her away from the pad at this point as she has been sick including diareaha lately and shes been a very good about at least getting her mess on the bathroom tile if not on the pee pad itself. Then there is the problem of the kennel bottom slipping on the tile and her not liking that. You know how animals get scared or freaked out be the silliest things sometimes, and its not worth it to me to experiment at this juncture. |
