I feel ya! lol Gizmo had an aim issue also. He eventually just figured it out and while we did several things to help, I'm not sure which one (if any) helped. I think the treats made the biggest difference, but I can't be sure.

-larger washable pad underneath
-wrote a mark in the middle of the pad with a sharpie
-rewarded with a treat when he made it all of the way on the pad and no longer when he was simply "close"

Someone suggested filling an empty water bottle with sand and putting it in the middle of the pad for him to aim at, but gizmo just thought it was a toy and just kept dragging it off of the pad and around the room. lol!

It might work for you though.

Another suggestion I was given was to put the pad in a box with sides like a kitty litter box. That sounded like a great idea, but I never actually tried it.
