How to stop the barking!!!! lol

Lily is almost 8 months old. She is getting very bad about barking at EVERYTHING!! I can't believe that such a little dog can bark so LOUD!! She will not stop no matter what we do....coins in a can, spray bottle w/water, try to calm her, try to yell at her ..... NOTHING works she barks at every little noise on TV or outside or whatever she hears and when people come to the door she goes CRAZY!! She doesn't settle down at all and I am embarrassed because I can't make her mind me at all. I know people think she is a "BRAT"!!LOL I think so too but she will not listen and she is very stubborn!! She is going potty on her pads real well and she hasn't chewed up any furniture or anything but she doesn't listen to ANYTHING!! She sleeps in bed w/us but if she hears something in the night even she will wake up and jump down and bark like crazy!! I know that is their instinct but surely there is SOMETHING we can do to make her stop?? She is LOUD!!

This is a tough one with these dogs because they love to "talk"
zak ... I think you might be having some problems because you're labelling her a "brat" and "stubborn"
she's neither
she's a dog
and dogs like to bark
you can stop her by getting her attention when she does ... and when she stops
you praise her
get her attention with a noise ... your voice (A one shot deal ... loud and to the point)
yelling her name and going on about her barking - you're just making her think that you're joining ing
