Potty training or marking?? I have 2 yorkies 3 yr and 2 yr. They go outside in the morning (fenced in yard) then spend the whole day in the kitchen until I get home without and accident. When, I am home they want to go out all the time and they pee and still pee (in certain areas) of the house. My fiance says it's because I let them out too much they aren't scheduled they think it's fun time when they are out. They always go in the same areas not always a lot so I don't know if this is marking. They are not neutered. Do I need to re potty train them? I will neuter them next month. Will that end it. The "accidents" are on verticle things they don't just pee. Last edited by lsicily; 11-19-2008 at 11:06 AM. Reason: spelling

i don't have a boy but it sounds like marking to me and i've heard that neutering doesn't always fix that. you might need to buy some belly bands.

They are not having accidents, it is intentional. They are marking their territory. Neutering may or may not help at their age. The behavior may be set at this point.

I have a 3 year old boy, and about a year ago I had to get him neutered because he was "marking" his spots in specific areas of the house too. Once I got him fixed, he was completely potty trained in a matter of days...

| My boy does the same thing. There are products out there that you can spray on furniture and other areas to prevent this. But I have never tried it. My shih-tzu used to do the same thing up to about 1 year old, and when I had him spayed, that fixed the problem.
