Potty training or marking?? I have 2 yorkies 3 yr and 2 yr. They go outside in the morning (fenced in yard) then spend the whole day in the kitchen until I get home without and accident. When, I am home they want to go out all the time and they pee and still pee (in certain areas) of the house. My fiance says it's because I let them out too much they aren't scheduled they think it's fun time when they are out. They always go in the same areas not always a lot so I don't know if this is marking. They are not neutered. Do I need to re potty train them? I will neuter them next month. Will that end it. The "accidents" are on verticle things they don't just pee. |
i don't have a boy but it sounds like marking to me and i've heard that neutering doesn't always fix that. you might need to buy some belly bands. |
i might sound silly here, but what are belly bands? are they so they dont mark territory? if so, i need these. my mil and mom both have male dogs so my dogs go there and HAVE to mark it up.. |
They are not having accidents, it is intentional. They are marking their territory. Neutering may or may not help at their age. The behavior may be set at this point. |
Thanks I have to get them neutered anyway for their own good maybe I can retrain after that if not belly bands will be my next purchase I would get rid of my finance before them. |
I have a 3 year old boy, and about a year ago I had to get him neutered because he was "marking" his spots in specific areas of the house too. Once I got him fixed, he was completely potty trained in a matter of days... |
My boy does the same thing. There are products out there that you can spray on furniture and other areas to prevent this. But I have never tried it. My shih-tzu used to do the same thing up to about 1 year old, and when I had him spayed, that fixed the problem. |
