| Tearing up my walls!!!!! My 4 month old yorkie is tearing up the sheetrock walls in his little area that I have blocked off for him when I am not able to supervise him. He is either digging at it or chewing it and making HUGE holes in the wall. I have not caught him in the act so I am not sure which he is doing. Any ideas on how to cure this problem? I thought about spraying the green apple sour spray on the walls but i don't think that will cure the problem if he is digging at the wall. Any suggestions would be great! |

| I thought we were the only ones with that problem. I actually posted about it once before. Lola also eats the sheetrock. She starts licking and just can't stop! We put some fencing by the wall to stop her and today she started licking the walls in the living room--WHILE WE WERE SITTING ON THE COUCH!! I can't believe she is so sneaky. But this time we caught her and yelled NO and grabbed her away. I have been told it could be diet but she is on a very healthy diet of chicken, natural kibble and even some carrots. If anyone has an answer I am welcome to it. morrislaz |

| Murphy is 8 months. He was 3 months when I got him. He ate the baseboard in my laundry room, the corner of the wall in the kitchen by where the baby gate is. The leg off my entry way table, my bedroom thingy. I've learned to spray bitter apple every couple of days to those areas that he chews on and a couple I suspect he'd go. Seems to work for me. Good luck

| The green apple sour is good . You should do it. Or sometime vinegar or tabasco sauce.. If the smell annoyed him he will leave it alone. Good luck |

| What you are dealing with is a dog that is not happy or secure enough to be left alone. You need to work sepration anxiety protocal and not use bitter apple or anything as it will stop that behaviour maybe but anxiety will pop up else where like licking holes in themselves barking or peeing around the house. You need to track down a animal behaviourist packing a PHD or a vet behaviourist and not just your every day vet is one of those. If you are close to a vet hospital call them and find someone. This will not get better without work and work. You dealing with a dog that is having panic attacks and he willing to do anything to get to you. You punishing him or scolging him makes it worse as now the person he needs to be with is scary too so be very gentle. JL |

No Longer a Member | When I first got Nicholas, He would sneak into the half bath and pull the wallpaper off the wall. He just loved to shred it and did it every chance he got. I found blue stripped paper all over the house. He finally stopped doing it as he got older and I guess didnt need to chew on things so much. I figured it was the puppy in him just getting into whatever he could. LOL, I still have to patch the big place where the wallpaper is gone. |

| Puppy's chew ANYTHING when teething or bored. Some need more frequent walks, play time and toys that can keep them interested. I think the best thing you can give them is the beef femur bones. Let them lay outside on the patio or deck and chew away. Here is what they look like:

| Hi, I would go with an xpen, playpen while you are gone, I believe they do it out of boredom. When Zander did this we bought a large acrylic sheet (at home depot) and put it against the wall that he made the hole . It works. I also walk them before I leave. Best of luck.

Offer her plenty of things that are ok to chew, and use bitter spray. however, some puppies like it. Confine her to a pen or crate when you are gone or can't watch her. I am at home all day too. It is not because she is suffering from panic attacks or anxiety. To me, it is typical behavior seen in puppies.

| My Doodlebug is about 4 1/2 months old and I have caught him chewing on the corner of my hallway RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and know he also chewed a spot on the drywall were our bathroom door should be (we're remodeling). I'm pretty sure they are both teething and are not neurotic psycho pupster. I think you just need to keep him busy with something like a kong. They are like little kids, if you take your eyes of them for a second they are into something to entertain themselves ie crayons on the walls. I remember those days well.

Then, all of a sudden it was over and she went on to bigger and better things. UGH!! They can be tarts believe me. |
