| I don't know what I'm diong wrong! And I know this is gonna take some time, but I guess i just need to vent. I take Trixie out as soon as I wake up in the mornings (always before I even go to the bathroom and all), and we stay out there like 15-30 mins each time). This morning, I took her out and we stayed about 15-20 mins. and finally came back in cause I had to go tinkle.. so I went to do it and then got her and went back out for yet another 20 mins or so and she still does nothing. She just sniffs, and sniffs and nothing ever comes of it. I am constantly saying, "Go Potty!" in a cheerful outgoing way, but still nothing. What does she do within 15 minutes of coming back inside? She POOPS! ( In the house of course and I get so upset.. maybe its my fault and I know I need to wait, but sometimes I just don't understand it. I know I need to phave patience with her past and consider it all, but I just wanted to vent! I just had her out and she went potty within 15 mins from being out and coming back in! :ugh:

| My little guy does the same thing. I think it's one of those things that if they're not ready they're not ready. Now we just watch and he goes to the door. usually that means potty, but sometimes he just wants to go outside and chew on sticks or chase bugs. The get distracted really easy. Just be patience and watch them like a hawk. when you see them start to squat inside say no clap your hands, anything to get them to stop, then take them outside. sometimes they finish outside. sometimes not. Lots of patience. it gets better, but slowly.

| Once you come back in the house you need to watch her very closely, so you can catch her, to start her business. Then in a stern voice tell her bad girl take her back out immediately. Then once she goes make a big deal out of it and praise her and let her know she is your good girl. Once they have done their duty and you haven't caught them it is too late, to correct the problem for that occassion. You must catch them in the act, and some will hide from you. If that don't work I would try to keep her in a restricted area (I use a baby gate and my kitchen) see where her favorite place is in that area to do her duties, then lay down a piddle pad there. Let her get a custom to using that pad, once she has done that start moving it (piddle pad) to the closest door you take her out of. This has worked for me and some of my little doggies. Some catch on quicker than other, so yes you have to try to find patience with her but she will get it. Good luck

| This is just a thought...perhaps if you put a leash on her and do not let her wander but in a two-foot or so circle then she would do her job. I know when we travel that is what I do and it works with ours. I know exactly how you feel. I've been there, too. You can't hang out in the yard forever! Don't give up! One of these days it will all work out!

| Try not to be so hard on yourself....It all takes time and eventually all your patience will pay off. Hang in there and keep up the good work

| Thanks ladies. I have trained before of course, as we have Daphne, but I really got spoiled and so forth with her, as she was trained with in 2 weeks of after we got her... Trixie on the other hand will be 4 on the 26th of this month, and well she was a puppymill rescue dog, and I know she has a history of who knows what and all, so Im trying to be very patient wtih her of course... Im using the same techniques that worked great for us with Daphne (my pom) before sooo.. I pretty much know it, just wanted to vet a little. I did find this off of one of the sites I've been looking up while surfing for some help and all and I may try this, as it sounds like a good thing to do: Quote:

| OH, and I also wanted to add that she wont do anything on a leash. She actually did at first when we had her and first got her about a week ago, but it made the mistake of taking her out without a leash, but Im always out there with her... and she enver runs or trys to escape from me which is great! (so much different from her sissy lol) Oh, and in the house, no need to confine her, cause she is such a Mama's Girl, she is with me EVERYWHERE and follows me constantly everywhere.. Dh calls her my *shadow*.

Also, I know how difficult it is! I went from having a 14-year-old to a 6-week-old puppy and I was spoiled, too! It's kinda jarring, isn't it?
