| Sounds like you are doing all the right things. I thought I would never get Tobi to potty on his pads, I would take him there and he would walk away and dribble on the floor and he would go behind the kitchen table to poo. I have been working on this for over two months and just now feel I am starting to get somewhere. I tired everything, got the pads, the litter box and litter, the bell, whatever anyone mentioned on here. I would read anything I could find about potty training and try to follow it, but I think it started coming together when I got the bell. Most of the time he goes potty in the litter box, when I ring the bell. I know I am nowhere near finished with this potty training issue, but I can say I am seeing the results of my labors. I also used a crate and I feel like this helped out more than anything. Some say it is cruel, but for me, it was the only way. Keep doing what you are doing, it sure doesn't happen over night. Best of luck to us all!!

First off this was written when a tiny one lb puppy had been there for 2 days and i hardly think that is time enough for a grown , trained dog to learn what is going on- never mind this tiny baby of 13 weeks. Secondly let me state that he did not have pee pads all over - he and a brother that is just slightly bigger shared a xpen in the puppy room - now you all know the size of a xpen - he and Jensen had a bed, play area , food , water and ONE pee pad size sheets of Newspaper that he and Jensen would go to and go on - if he has the run tof the house on his second day i am sure he is confused . He only had the run of my living room and kitchen if i was right with him and could watch him for his stopping to pee movement. At this time i doubt from the above post that that movement is being recognized as a need the potty move.

No, you are right, as I stated I do not know when he is about to pee. It is very hard to tell with his small size. I was coming to post some good news though!! Yesterday he was walking around in the kitchen with pebbles and i, and I thought to myself maybe he will be like one of those kids that doesnt talk until they are 3, but then they just up and come out one day with a full sentence... just then he walked on over to the paper area and did a little turn and squat and peed right in front of me on the paper!! a miracle!! I was like yayyyy goood potty bam bamm... and he was soo happy and so was i.. hahaha a little breakthrough, little, but a breakthrough!! | |
