How many hours can your yorkie hold it?

I tried ex-pen'ing him today with a wee pad, but he peed outside of the pad, next to his water dish instead. I set it up so his food/water and crate was at one end, and his pee pad the opposite end, but he didn't pee on the wee wee pad! I was gone for 5 hrs today.

I was told today by someone else who has a 6 month old bulldog puppy that can hold it for 10 hrs! But she is 30 lbs, not 4.3 lbs like my Darwin...

Generally is 8 months old and is in an X-pen. I walk him twice in the morning before I go to work and as soon as I come home. He has gone as long as 11 hours without going. He has never peed in the X-pen. Before the X-pen he was loose in the kitchen. He went in the kitchen once or twice and he was very young at the time. At night he goes once and that is on a pee pad in the bedroom.

Katie my Yorkie goes from 7.30pm to 7.30am during the night. (12 hours). I take her out every four hours during the day. Not sure how long she would last if I didn't during the day. She is 13 months. She's sleeps with me and has never had an accident night or day for months.

Ever since Zoe was 6wks she's been able to hold it 4-5 hours during the day and sleeps all night 6 or 7 hours. If we hear her stir around when one of us is up about 3 or so we go ahead and take her out to pee and she goes right back to sleep in her crate.
