| first day training question. I am getting a puppy Friday, and the lady at Pet Smart said to take a pee pad and the first night and have him go on that. Then I should take that outside the next time and put it wherever I want him to go. She said to leave it there for about a week so that he will smell it when he goes. does this sound right? Do I need to do this? Ireally don't want to buy pee pads, but I want him to go in a certain spot outside. |

| I read a good idea once and wish I did it in the beginning. Get a play pen and place it outside we're he'll be going to the bathroom. Since the space is small, he won't have much room to play and it'll be boring. He'll want to just go to bathroom and get back to playing. The poster said that whenever they took their pup outside it went to the bathroom rite away. When I walk my pup he'll run around and want to play for a while before he goes. I'm sure if you keep the pen there long enough when you eventually take it away he'll be drawn to that area.
