| ![]() We just started using bitter apple on our wood furniture, and Peanut is having a strange reaction. (Or maybe it's normal?) After I sprayed a few table legs down, she went over to sniff because she was curious. I'm assuming she licked it (although I didn't see her do it) because when she walked away she began jerking her head violently and lapping her tongue over and over. This lasted for a few minutes. It seems to have stopped now, but I'm just wondering if this is a normal reaction, and if this product is 100% safe. Has anyone had their yorkie get sick from it? It just seemed like a really violent reaction to me. Thanks. |

| ![]() Mine usually stayed away based on the smell alone. But I would imagine it would be like licking a lemon. Think of a baby that got ahold of a lemon. Did it remind you of that at all? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() My Maximus also reacted that way. After he dared a few more tries (and head jerking), he became familiar with the smell and the scent alone deters him now. |

Maximus also got into nipping when he was 13 weeks old and my trainer at Petsmart taught me to yelp in a high pitch tone whenever he nipped me (even at play) and to walk away and ignore him for a few minutes. This is how puppies in a litter communicate to each other that someone has gone too far during play. Also, when friends would come over and he'd start trying to nip, I immediately grab him, firmly say "no biting" and either turn him on his back until he calms down or put him in his crate. After doing all of the above for about 2 weeks (and being consistent every time!) , he really started to learn not to nip me. It's funny because sometimes in his excitement he doesn't think and is about to nip my hand, but then catches himself and turns his head to nip the air instead ![]() | |
