![]() Hi everyone! It's been a while but at this point I have no idea what to do. Diesel is 5 1/2 months now and is very good about going pee pee on the pad but he poops every singe time on the carpet in the other end of the house. He stays in the crate when we are at work and he is still peeing and pooping in that as well. I was thinking about getting a circular gate to put him in with a pee pad in it as well but i'm not sure that this will help. He also has been sleeping in the bed with us every night and I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it. He does wake himself up during the night when he has to go. He jumps off the bed and goes straight to the pee pee pad when he has to pee. Any suggestions? Please help! Thanks! Elizabeth

![]() Maybe he's just upset he's home alone? Sometimes they are quite fussy when they don't get what they want. Have you tried taking him on long, long walks to let him poop? Or if you can somehow associate pooping outside with some kind of treat or reward with him, he may learn that way. Good luck, if he knows how to pee in the right place, pooping can't be too far away! ![]()

![]() Elizabeth, My dog quincy was potty trained by the time he was 5 months old. what i did was take him outside every hour for the first couple of days, and after that i would keep him blocked off in the kitchen while i was at work.he would poop and pee in the kitchen at night. i work midnights but when i would come home in the mornings i would take him out right away and when he would go potty i praised hm so much the neighbors probly think i'm crazy.when he would rome the house though i would like i said take him out every hour and he never had a chance to pee in the rest of the house i would take him out too soon he never had a chance to have an accident so i believe he got potty trained so quickly by me praising him so much when he would go where he was supposed too which was outside ![]() linda

![]() Higgins is up to about 98% potty trained. That's good enough for me. He's a year old and has more or less done it on his own. Uses the pee pad 100% of the time if we are away or he has to go at night. Poops inside only rarely now. The rest of the time, he goes outside. Good enough for me. And I bet he'll be 100% at some point.

| ![]() Luca Dean was 4 1/2 months when we brought him home, and he hadn't had proper potty training, but he did know what wee-wee meant. I have him using pee pads only inside and take him to his pee place about every other hour. He's about 50%-75% after almost 2 weeks with us. I put him in his kennel in the room I work in if he won't go, and then try again about 15 min. later. This works well. He has never used the kennel to relieve himself thank goodness. He wears a diaper if he seems to be having a bad day -- one day he'll do fine, the next day it's like he forgets he's supposed to go to the pad. He really hates being wet on his belly, so generally he'll remember to go in the right place the next time. Consistency, praise, treats, and using a command "go wee-wee" are the things that finally got him over the 50% threshold. He doesn't get treats (about ten pieces of his regular food) unless he does something. I'll admit, it's been very tough training him compared to my other housetraining experiences. Yorkies are so self-willed! That's what makes them fun too though! You might consider a smaller crate. We have a large dog crate, but chose to use an old square metal milk crate instead, turned upside down. He can stand and turn a circle comfortably in it, and that's all that's necessary. GOOD LUCK! | ![]() Tasha spends alot of time here at our house, since she lives over an hour a way, we like to babysit her for a few days at a time. Her mom and dad have really busy schedules, so she is home with her brother Kitty(a cat) all day. Here, I can leave her for 6 or 7 hrs at a time and she won't potty in the house, but she does at home and her daddy is getting frustrated. Any ideas on what they(we) should do? |
