| To poop outside or not to poop outside???? I trained my little Yorkie Louie to pee and poo on wee-wee pads. About 2 months ago he started to play with the wee-wee pads and shred them to pieces. Also, he would constantly "miss" the pad. He would put his nose on it and not realize his wee-wee was completely off the pad...it would make an absolute mess all the time. Now I am potty training him outside. He's been doing exceptionally well, I've been using a crate as well (which I hate) but it's the only time I can get a little bit of a break from watching him constantly. Now the question is, do I continue to have him go outside?? It's such a pain when it rains, he comes in soaked. Also, I live in NY, not sure how this is going to work when it snows? Would I confuse him if I used both the wee-wee pad on bad weather days and outside on good weather days? Can you guys offer any suggestions??? Thanks!

| What I do is always leave wee wee pads on the floor. But when I take my dogs for the nightly walk (except in this NASTY humidity) they do their business outside. Codie LOVES to shred his wee wee pad too. I don't know why they do this .... those little rascals!

| Wow! I don't know. I suppose it depends on the individual yorkie. I had Muffin trained to go outside in nice weather and daytime. At night and in bad weather, we had pads in the attached garage. So, it worked out great for her. She wasn't confused by it at all for some reason. I'm trying to train Kacee the same way except for her I have some pads in the house, too, which I didn't do for Muffin. It seems like she pees a lot more than Muffin ever did as a pup or my memory has faded, but I'm certain she does! |

| I have the same concerns. We trained Sophie to poop/pee outside, but our hope is to one day be able to leave her home alone for a couple of hours. She has no clue how to use a peepad. We are getting a new Yorkie this weekend and I'm going to peepad train her. I hope that Sophie will notice and follow suit. Altho I'd rather them poop/pee outside (I always clean up the poop), Iwould really like for them to use the pads when I'm not home or available to open the door. |

| It may confuse him but I don't know if I blame you for trying this. My dog uses a litterbox but I also want her to outside. What I would suggest is to use the grass scented pee pads and when you want him to go outside, start by taking the pad outside. Perhaps he will get the message that it's alright to go both places. Good luck and try to keep us posted.
