| Territorial w/ Food I do not know what to do about Charlie and Henry lately...They eat out of seperate bowls at feeding time and they become extremely territorial about their bowls...Henry usually finishes first he just eats then looks at Charlie and Charlie gives him the little growl and if Henry goes near him they go at it, BIG TIME, I think more noise than anything, but I do not know what to do...They each got a new bone in their stocking and they wait for the other one to drop it and then they run to each others, and again fight if one gets too close to the other one...This has to stop but I do not know what to do...We have been having success when barking out the window w/ the ShSh as we saw on Ceasar and the touching them to know who's boss...I did think of placing them apart when feeding, I think Henry is a gulper and Charlie likes to play w/ each piece and maybe that is what is going wrong, but I do not want to encourage that because there will be times I just can't stand guard at meal time...Any Advice Please!

| Sounds like seperating them at meal times is the best, I free feed all 5 of mine but they eat at different times through out the day, So rarley are there more then 2 babies eating at once, the bone gaurding is a problem here at times to, I always supervise when letting them have chew bones.maybe someone else will have a better souloution good luck

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | are they aggressive about anything else, like toys or your attention? if its just food what i would do it feed them separately and get rid of all bones. eliminating the source is the easiest thing to do.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We separate our boys for feeding as well...we actually separate all four of the dogs as they all eat at different rate but don't want each other to eat theirs. The boys eat in their X Pens and the girls eat on opposite sides of the room so we can keep an eye on them. This really helps us, as each has their own space to eat and then can relax and not get stressed about it. The bone guarding happens around here as well...we no longer have any bones like that in the house b/c it causes too many problems as they want what the other one has. I would suggest other toys and only letting them have a bone while they are separated after eating or something like that.

| Thanks~ For the advice everyone, I have been seperating them to eat and it does work out better, I can see Charlie is able to eat more relaxed, and Henry, well, he just gulps, that is his style...I have been monitoring the bones and they seem to like to chew after eating so for now it is working, then I just take them away if I am not going to be around, they keep me hopping, I feel like I have twins! Charlie, Henry and myself wish everyone a Happy and Safe New Year!

| Interesting post. I have the same problem---three gulpers and one piddler. I usually sit beside the piddler so he is more relaxed. (Even got a Brake-Fast bowl for the Pommie.) After the other three are done gulping they stand in a semi-circle around us smacking their lips. The piddler even gets upset when the others want to check out his empty bowl. |
