I know it was me just wondering if she was going too, cause she was frustrated....like we all get while potty training....

I think the trick is contiued crate training. Dogs need boundries and limitations. As soon as you let them roam free, they think they own the house and can pee where ever they wish. We didn't crate train Bauer at first. We kept him in the Kitchen with a baby gate. That's when we had the hardest time house breaking him. But as soon as we started the crate training he's been a little angel with very few accidents.

I am having trouble with one of my little guys. He will not go outside if it has rained and is the slightest bit wet. I put a potty pad down for them, but Charlie goes anywhere BUT the potty pad. When I catch him, I yell "NO!" and put him on his potty pad. It kills me tho because he looks at me like I am a monster! Then I am racked with guilt so badly it makes me want to cry!

After it stops raining and the ground dries up, it takes me about a week to get him back on track. I don't know what to do about that -- or about how guilty I feel disciplining him

My babies are six months old. My other one, Oliver, knows what to do. If its raining he uses the potty pad, and if its just wet, he toughs it out and goes outside.

I have had Lilly for 2 1/2 months.......I seem to think we got them around the same time.
Anyway, I can fully appreciate your frustrations, and the feeling of wanting to "undo" ......I couldn't believe I had gotten myself talked into getting a puppy in the fall.......and then I read on here AFTER getting her how difficulty Yorkies can be to train.
That initially scared me. I had lots of doubts about the decision to get her but didn't want to tell anyone in my family that. Actually, we had 2 yorkies at first, and after a serious melt down, we took one back to the breeder.
Well, I am happy to report that we are doing okay in the training department. She hasn't gone inside in quite a few days. Even with all the snow (2 ft +), we have managed to get her outside. We do the crate at night and when we leave the house. During the day, if someone is here, she is allowed out, but she does go out ever couple hours. I have a "potty book" by the door that everyone writes in telling the time she went out and what she did (he..he..) That helps me know if I should really be watching her closer. I don't want to just drag her outside all the time. I want her to tell me she needs to go out. Right now she does go and just sit by the door. I have her ring a bell right before we go out, but she does not do that on her own yet. She just sits there until you notice her.
Well, I have rambled. I just wanted you to know that I really know how you feel..........but can't imagine doing this with small children. I have teenagers who can help.

Lori, I'm glad to hear your girl is doing so well! Wish I could report the same for my puppy.

I am absolutely at my wits end with Max. Take today for example. He has peed four times in his crate. At no point was he in there for more than an hour and was taken out to potty right before being put in the crate. I'm doing everything "they" say to do but it's not working. Max just goes whenever, and wherever, he wants. It sounds terrible to admit it but I'm losing my affection for him.

I tried the belly band but he kept getting it off. He figured out how to rub along the side of the couch and get the band to slip farther and farther down his hips until he could wiggle out of it.

My last thing to try is blocking him in our only bathroom with tile (the other two have carpet), putting a pee pad down and his crate in there. I've done that a few times during the day when we've been gone for several hours and he's done well with going on the pad. I really didn't want to rely on pads permanantly because I wanted him going outside 100% of the time but I don't know what else to do. I don't have the time to bathe him every time he pees all over himself in the crate.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I know others have experienced very difficult housebreaking issues. Please give me some ideas to try!

I sure wish I knew how to advise you on this. I have never trained a puppy before this. My whole training procedure (learned on here) was based on the assumption that she would not potty in the crate. And she hasn't. If she started to do that, I don't know what I would do. She is not in the crate much except for the night or when we are all gone. I try not to let her wander where we cannot see her. Maybe if you use the pee pads and move them closer to the door every day, until they are outside.

Max's crate isn't too big is it? I have read they should only be able to stand up and turn around in the crate. I hope things start going better! I have two yorkie puppies and had a very hard time with one of them, so I completely understand your frustration. He is six months old and I still feel like I need to keep my eye on him at all times.
