| Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! Hopefully he will cheer up in the near future, as soon as he finds out how wonderful it is at your house. Did he come from a shelter or is he a stray? If a stray, have you done all you can to find his owners? Your vet will help you determine how old he is by-the-way. Also scan to make sure he does not have a chip.

I took in a stray pup, sort of like your story. But, I did put up posters, went to the animal shelter, had her scanned at my vet, called the police, put her on Craigslist and in the paper, all with no luck. I felt like I did everything I could, so when I decided to give her a forever home, there was no guilt. Please keep us updated.

| Hi Tabby: I saw yesterday (before you changed it) that you live in Somerset, Ky. (I also live in Ky., by the way.) I went to Craigslist this morning and saw that there is a lost Yorkie in your area. Here is the link. Missing Dog-Diabetic Is this the dog you found? (Both males, by-the-way.) If so, I hope you will contact the owners. Sounds like he very much needs his medicine, poor thing. Thanks so much and have a good day.

| Even if the dog on Craigslist is not the one you found, I hope you are making every effort to find the pup's owner. I would hope that if my Levi was separated from me, he would be lucky enough to find someone kindhearted that would make every effort to return my sweet boy to me. Have you taken the pup to the vet to be scanned for a microchip? Put up "found" posters, or "found" announcements on Craigslist? Contacted local vets to see if anyone has reported a missing Yorkie? Please think of this pup's owners, who may be worried SICK about their sweet boy, and try everything possible to find them. I would be missing my baby something awful, and would hate to think someone would "claim" him without ever bothering to try and find me. I know that even my spoiled, pampered, and well-cared-for boy would look dirty and scraggly after a day or two on the streets. So please find it in your heart to at least look for his owners. |

I'm going to say this gently so that you don't think I'm another "rude" person. Please understand that a LOT of the people here are constantly doing what they can to reunite lost dogs with their owners & the profile pics are very very tiny so someone new coming on telling us they "found" a Yorkie raises a lot of red flags. I'd like to add a few other things for you to think about too. Maybe the knot you're feeling happened to the pup after it got away from it's owner? My Yorkies start to look a bit "greasy" after about a week. (Perhaps if you were to make an album we'd be better able to tell that the pup you have isn't the same as the one linked above. You'll find the "how to" here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yorkietalk-how-guides/139692-how-make-album.html )

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/mis...ml#post3536764 Here is an article about how and what you can do to maximize the chance of re-uniting a lost dog to their owner. On the subject of the found dog; one day running scared and through bushes, and mud and fallen leaves, will leave a Yorkie looking pretty rough. One day without food, on a very small body, will be visually and palpatory perceptible on this Yorkie. What is concerning is that a lump or bump on his body, may indicate a hematoma, a cracked rib, an unresolved allergic reaction to ticks/mosquitoes/snake bites. This dog should really be seen by a vet today or tomorrow. When you do take this dog to the vet, any reputable vet will scan for a microchip, and then the process will be put in place to find the owner. Some breeders even tatoo their dogs, this is another way of finding out about the dog. I hope everything is well with this dog. Good luck at the vets.

| I am glad you found this little guy but just one day out alone in the world could make a yorkie look unloved. You should definitely take him to the vet had have him checked out and scanned to see if he has a microchip. He could have accidently run out of the door when his owners where opening it to leave and then they couldnt find him. What if the owners had a child who loved there dog and cry every day asking mommy where is our doggie. I would be crying everyday if something happened to my yorkie. I am sure he is sad because he misses his family. If I ever found a lost dog I would try every thing to find there owners because I would hope someone did that for me if Callie ever got lost. Please reconsider trying to find his owners if you post posters and do what you can to find his owner and no one comes forward then you know he was meant to be yours.
