| My yorkie didn't show any intrest in the regular nylabone, but he did love the light weight one with nubbies on it |

| When Kacee was a puppy, she would chew on one for a little bit. She was not a fan of them at all. She much preferred bully sticks then. She doesn't chew on anything anymore though.

| Trixie loves her nylabone....she gets the chicken flavored one. I replace it after she has chewed on it for a while (about every month or so) just because I don't want any pieces to come off...not that they ever have - she is not much of an aggressive chewer.

| Nylabones are vegan and I have tried them for my dogs. They chew them sometimes but not that keen. My friends GSD love chewing them. |

| I bought Mocha one with little bumps on it and he chewed those off and swallowed them. I had to dig through his poop every day until I saw that they came out. So none of you have problem with nylabone breaking? My little destroyer breaks his toys and chews like crazy. The only thing that lasts for his are the antlers. I tried everything, even the himalayan chews and there's nothing he can't break and swallow. |

| I stopped giving Levi the blue nylabones because he would eat them! Even though I was told they were safe I chose not to give them to him. Even with bully sticks I have to pull them away when they get to small...we had one choking incident. My favorite are the Himalayan Chews. They do break off little pieces but they are completely edible.I still pull these when they get small.

Antlers and any other bones that are calcified can crack teeth. Nylabone is a safer option - my dogs have been using the gummy kind of nylabones since puppyhood and we've never had a choking incident, an obstruction, a cracked tooth, or anything from them. Numerous vets have assured me that these are safe for my dogs and after 10 years of using them and having no problems whatsoever I am a repeat buyer of these items. I have been happy with them and yes the pieces come out in their poop as they pass through. My dogs especially like the BBQ ribs from Nylabone and the blue dental bones and gummy dinosaurs. By the way, an animal bone just cost me $2,000 in vet bills when Daisy cracked her 4th molar. I'll never feed another shank bone or antler or hoof ever again. Just not worth it.

They cannot "eat" the Nylabone Dura Chews! There are different types of Nylabones. Some of them actually can be eaten...those are not the ones to get! The package will say if it is Dura Chew...those are the ones I give my pups. I live with yorkie destroyers....not one has ever been able to get a "piece" off of a Dura Chew Nylabone!

The dentist said those are a no-no, unless you want cracked teeth.

I have used them for many years without any problems....and with many pups. I suppose it could happen, but I am not sure the risk is that high. I have not seen it on a google search. Not saying it cannot happen...I just have not had it happen.

There are people on here that will say the same about shank bones (using for many years, no problems, etc). And I myself have used them in the past as well - for some reason, Barney likes the gummy ones better, especially the dinosaurs. But, the durabones can last forever and he's never bitten off a piece or really made dents in it. However, I took them away when the dentist gave me a lecture His exact words were "if you cannot indent it with your fingernail" then don't give it. That included hooves, antlers, animal bones, durabones, and the like. Maybe another board certified dentist would disagree and maybe I'm paranoid, but this ordeal has changed my ways. As you know, the dental costs were $1,000 alone and that was without the various other things that cropped up like the bacterial infection (probably also introduced by the animal bone now that I think about it). I cracked my own tooth the other day biting my nails so I just think it is going to happen when it is going to happen to be honest. But, I do think that there is an increase risk using these hard items after speaking with the dental clinic and therefore they are gone from this house. Well except for the corns which are gummy on the ends and harder in the middle. Tried to take that away and Barney cried at the door and smelled the air for hours - heartbreaking, simply heartbreaking!

I know you are right...as is your vet dentist. I was simply saying that I use them and honestly don't think my pups are at any more of a risk than if they chewed on a rock outside and yes, they have done that! I have had to remove some strange items from their mouths over the years. I had one that found a piece of glass on the floor one day and was chewing it. I had broken a jar the day before and was sure I had gotten it all off the floor. All that being said, I suppose if one does chip a tooth one day, I will now feel guilty. I dunno.
