| You guys are awesome! I am loving everyone's great advice! I am going to definitely take a lot of this into consideration! I sure wish I had more friends with dogs! This won't be a big ordeal like we wish it could be, but we're going to do our best to make it FUN, especially for Sully!

| Don't serve Pina Coladaas, serve: SALTY DOG Ingredients: - 2 oz Vodka - 5 oz Grapefruit Juice - 2 tsp Salt - Lime Wedge - Glassware: Cocktail Glass Shake all the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Make little cakes for the humans with 1-2-3 doug (that's the Danish name, you see why ) : 100 g sugar. (3,5 ounce) 200 g butter. (7 ounce) 300 g flour. (10,5 ounce) Roll the doug flat and let your fantasy guide you. It's easy to form this into bones, dogheads, paws, tails etc. Bake them for 5 minutes on 200 degrees celcius (392 fahrenheit) You can of course put whatever flavors or spice in them you like, chocolate, vanilla, ginger etc. And use fruit colors or sprinkles to color them up and enhance your motives I hope my english was sufficient enough to make you understand Good luck, I wish I could be there!

I am also planning a party for Hefner and Buddha in the fall since they are only two weeks apart and I hope to include the YTers in SoCal or whoever wants to come!!! .....as well as our yorkie meetup group and our friends and family with dogs. We wil have it at our house most likely or maybe dog beach in Del Mar and this great since you are helping me with this thread. Hefner votes for the Bumbleball! |

| I don't really have any suggestions for the birthday party (It sounds REALLY fun though) but I think you should get Sully the Hide-a-Squirrel. It looks like something he would have fun with. For the party favors, I think you should get something small for the dogs at the party and for the people. Like a bone for each dog and something cute for each person. |

| My "Which Toy?" debate... Here are my thoughts on the "Hide-a-Squirrel" vs. Bumble Ball debate: Sully has many toys, off all sorts, but NOTHING like a Bumble Ball. It would be something different and unique. But would the newness of it wear off? Would he really enjoy playing with it? Hmm...for $13 bucks I want him to really like his new toy. On the other hand, while we were at PetSmart last night, Sully went CRAZY over the Hide-a-Squirrel toy. It fits his terrier instincts to hunt and dig, capture, etc. He just loves it! We already play this type of game by hiding his squeaky newspaper toy under the rug and he digs under there until he finds it, LOL! But...the hide-a-squirrel toy is plush and squeaky, which is his favourite, but he has a ton of other plush, squeaky toys. So the Bumble Ball would be a fun variety for him. So I can't decide b/c I know he'll love the hide-a-squirrel but the bumble ball would be so unique. *sigh* Why am I driving myself crazy debating my dog's birthday present? LOL!!!!

| Ok, this is not a joke, but a serious proposal to save you money and help you get Sully a great gift. Instead of the hide a squirrel, which he will undoubtedly have figured out in no time, show him a treat, then place it under a cup and encourage him to get it out from under the cup. That is great stimulation of his brain! Instead of the bumble ball, give him an empty roll of toilet paper. They are great fun for hours! They roll funny, make noises, can be carried - and best of all, can be "killed" without any consequense. This way you can afford both and will give the dogs the same joy as if you spend your entire fortune on plastic. Fancy toys are for your sake, not the dogs, he doesn't care as long as you love him!

| Val, Sounds like Sully is going to have a wonderful Birthday... There was a lady here in town who owns a pug.. It's birthday was coming up and so she put an advertisement in the paper calling all pugs to come and be apart of the fun.. They had games and silly prizes.. like best dressed.. best trick.. smallest, biggest, longest tounge... A girl friend of mine wanted to go but she didnt want to go alone so I went with her... It was sooo darn cute.. They had drawings and such.. but the best part I thought was the Vet that came and spoke on the breed.. He even had a game prepared.. Jeopardy... For every right answer they got a dog bone.. I just thought I would share.. We have never done this ourselves... but it certainly sounds like it would be fun!! We have kept our puppy parties simple here.. The "kids" get new toys and a new outfit and a special cake that my daughter makes... I cant wait to hear what you decide.. Sully is going to have a great day!! Happy Early Birthday Sully!! |
