| Crikey Just seen the first ever advert (that I have seen) for Biewer pups in the UK - they want 1500 for them! Holy moly! Is it me or is that just totally ridiculous? |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Is that Euros? That is what they sell for in Europe and more. I don't think there are too many breeders in the UK so it would be priced on the higher side. |

YT 500 Club Member | Nope, its pounds. The seller is not too far from me either. From what I can tell they have 2 females left out of a litter of 5. 3 pups are Biewer coloued and 2 regular as the sire is a parti- carrier but regular coloured. I did think of calling but I suspect the two remaining pups are the regular coloured oups and if so I think its a little high price wize. There is another litter nearby but they too dont have the colouring just black and tan, though with white on the toes and chest, but the dam doesnt look like a very good quality yorkie from the photo. They're priced at £450.00. I'd like one someday but would not pay £1500 for a carrier. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | No, carriers should not be that expensive. Here in the U.S. they are called splitters. The BBCA breeds only Biewer to Biewer--no splitters or carriers allowed. Does the quarantine still exist for importing Biewers from Germany or the U.S. |

YT 500 Club Member | Thats what I thought, far too much money. Just cashing in on something new from people who dont do any research. As far as I know you dont need to quarenteen, but theres a load of things you have to do before they can be inported. Micro-chipped for identification, inoculated against certain things and tested to ensure it worked. Treated for certain parasites, and many more. People can and do take their pets to Europe for holidays dont know about the U.S though. |

| It's astonishing, I just couldn't believe it, I think it's too steep. Transporting animals in EU is quite simple now, as long as you find a vet that's got the routine down. From the US is not something that I ever investigated because of the distance. |

| Yes, always thinking! The chap that delivered our takeaway in early December said he had 2 left, but they were 6 weeks old and he was getting rid of them The problem is, that 1 pooch is so portable, usually accepted in people's house when you visit and easy to have someone look after if you can't take them somewhere, but with 2, all of those things are more difficult. Then there's things like being in the car and plane with DH when he is teaching, Belle is so well trained and a natural traveller and aviator, would the next one be? If not, does it get left home So many things to consider, but I'd love a very white Biewer, and I would even pay more than a normal Yorkie - just not that much more....I agree they are rarer and getting the dam and sire is more difficult but...I don't like to feel like I am being turned over. Anyway - are you well? Merry Christmas |

YT 500 Club Member | I'm better for having some extra time at home with my pair of loonies. Loved the last 2 days but glad they're out of the way so I can relax a bit for the next week. I think they're enjoying having extra time to wind me up too. Rosies turning into a proper little madam, keeps trying to chase Alfie away from any food in the house. Trying to get her on a more balanced diet as she can be so fussy. Hope you got everything you wanted for x-mas. I know it can be so difficult making the decision to go for a second pup as they're all so different in personality, and the more pups yoy have the less you have to spoil them, but its also double the pleasure. Good luck with your decision and for the new year. |

YT 500 Club Member | What I worry about is unscupulous breeders seeing the prices these pups are going for and they'll buy up these pups and use them as breeding machiens or they'll start selling crosses with a similar look to the unknowing public for the same money. Many yorkies are way off breed standard so the public could easily be taken in. |

| Are they recognised by the Kennel Club? Seems an extortionate price to me if they aren't. I'd never heard of them till I joined this forum. xx Meggie |

| No, not by our Kennel club (UK), because it's actually not Yorkie breed standard - strictly black/steel and tan I think from memory. I guess that's why you don't see them here in the UK. It's recognised as a breed in other countries, though. I *think* that my Bluebelle is a carrier, she had white flashes on her paws when she was born and on her chest; you would never see the ones on the paws, but the ones on her chest and belly look lovely with the tan and you see them well enough. But it's just what I read around the tinternet! |

| Yes, I know the KC breed standard is for tan & steel blue. I suppose the white creeping in is a throwback to some of the old breeds that Yorkies were developed from, same as the bigger sizes that occur are. The Clydesdale & Paisley Terriers were black & tan but Skyes come in cream to black, though never brown or tan. Two of my Skyes are very, very pale cream with black points on face & ears so that could account for some of the light creeping in. The early breeders worked hard to try & fix the breed & keep it pure once fixed so I suppose that's why we don't see so much of the white creeping in here. It is a native British breed after all. xx Meggie |
