| Okay, I have tried the Plush Puppy products.. Hi everyone I said I would let you know how I found the Plush Puppy shampoo and conditioner I bought. I used the Natural Conditioning Shampoo with Evening Primrose and the Natural Silk Protein Conditioner. I wet Tootsy thoroughly with warm water and rubbed a little of the shampoo onto my hands and then spread it all over her. It lathered a lot, so I may have used too much, although I only put a VERY small amount on my hands (in fact the bottle still looks full!) as I knew it was concentrated. I rinsed her very well and her hair looked rather dry and very tangly. I then thought I better put the conditioner on without diluting it, as she was so full of tangles. I put quite a lot of the conditioner on her and then rinsed after a few minutes. Her hair was still very dry and full of tangles. I dried her carefully trying not to rub and make matters worse. I then sprayed a LOT of Ice on Ice on her and carefully took out all the tangles. It took ages and Toots was so good about it, poor baby - I didn't hurt her though. I then put a small dab of the Swishy Coat on my hands and smoothed it through her hair. I dried her and she is fine now, but I did not enjoy this process. Her hair still looks dry to me and it never normally looks like this, so I am disappointed. I am probably doing something wrong, as others love these products. I have been using various pet shampoos and then using L'oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss intensive conditioner (in the pot). I comb it through and it leaves her hair very glossy and she gets lot of compliments. The trouble is, I know it is not ph balanced and it is probably full of silicones as well!! This is why I am trying to find something else. Well, this was my experience with Plush Puppy products. Any advice form other Plush Puppy product users? Oh, the other product I tried recently was Duurstede EF (yes, I am slowly going bankrupt!!) as I wanted to use it to wash her face, as it is eye friendly. It worked well and I used it all over as well. It didn't dry her hair out or leave it knotty so I can recommend it. Strangely enough, it DID irritate her one eye, which teared for a day or so. It is fine now - I will just be more careful with the suds getting into her eyes. I must say that the Plush Puppy shampoo did not irritate her eyes at all. | Mmm....that's very interesting Yvonne. I'd read how good they were over on the American threads & had wondered about trying them. Where did you buy them? If you said, I can't remember, sorry. I'm still happy with the Summerwinds. It's four days now since I used it on Ellie & her coat is still silky, it's usually beginning to look a bit ratty by now as she's not the best at keeping herself clean! It's been much easier to brush through as well & not tangled as easily. I'd only used a shampoo from the pet shop before putting on the conditioner but next time I order I'll buy the matching shampoo I think, see if that makes it even better. xx Meggie |

Hi Meggie Thanks for the reply. I bought the Plush Puppy products from their online shop at: www. plushpuppy.co.uk Is the Summerwinds conditioner you are using, a rich conditioner? I think Toots really needs a very rich conditioner. Luv Yvonne xxx

Hi Yvonne, thanks for the link. Yes it is very rich. I'd a job to get it out of the bottle it was so thick You dilute it with water to apply it as they recommend on the bottle. It comes in two colours, yellow & white, I got the original yellow as the white is for white dogs. Ellie & Button need rich conditioners too. They both have very fine, silky hair that breaks easily at the ends if I'm not careful Tansy's hair is really thick & a bit odd as it's silky except for a bit at her rear end that seems more woolly & gets very dry. xx Meggie

Thanks, Meggie - if I were you I would first try the Summerwinds shampoo before buying the Plush Puppy. Judging by how the conditioner works on Ellie, I think it may be better for our dogs type of hair. Toots really doesn't look great today - I have sprayed her with lots of Ice on Ice this morning, which usually leaves her hair glossy, but it is just not working today. Possibly it doesn't work with Swishy Coat? That may be the problem. Have you ever tried the Pet Silk products on Ellie? Luv Yvonne xxx

Hi Yvonne. No I haven't tried Pet Silk. I'd posted a question about tangles on the show thread & got some useful answers. One lady, really helpful she was, said she didn't like the way the Pet Silk products rinsed out. Her favourite is the Ice on Ice, is that a Plush Puppy product? Is it an oil? She reckoned it was the best thing for getting the knots out. I'd posted a list of other stuff I'd thought of buying that Petcetera stocks,I'd be bankrupt if I tried them all! but she hadn't used most of them. Ellie's coat drives me nuts! It's getting quite long now. I can brush her & get her looking gorgeous but an hour later she looks like a scruff. Don't know what it is, she's like these kids who never look tidy. The other two aren't nearly as bad, Tansy looks groomed & tidy even if I haven't brushed her & Button stays looking smooth after he's done. And to think her judge of a breeder was reluctant to sell her to me, took weeks of persuasion, as he wanted to show her! hugs xx Meggie

Hi Meggie Sorry for taking so long to reply! The Ice on Ice is very good and I use it every day. I find it does help a bit to get out the knots and tangles, but you still have to sit down and take them out gently, even with the Ice on Ice. It is a Chris Christensen (sp?!) product and you can get it on their online store. It does leave a lovely shine on their coats. When I first bought it I didn't think it was that great until I noticed the lovely shine it was giving to Tootsy's coat. Now I use it a lot. Ellie's coat sounds like Tootsy's coat. Tootsy needs a lot of rich conditioner in order to get her coat tangle free. You say that the Summerwind Conditioner has been so good on Ellie's coat, are you still liking it? I am thinking of trying it out next. I have tried the Chris Christensen Day by Day conditioner, I think it is called that, but it was not rich enough for Toots. Their shampoo was too drying for her as well. Vet Solutions shampoo is one I did like - I got the oatmeal and aloe vera one. It wasn't drying on her coat. All for now. Luv & Hugs Yvonne xx

suggestion Well, to cut in I have a cotty boy (Jack) he has Very dry hair and I have tried some shampoo's but with no avail he is still dry. Well I bought some mega cholesterol conditioner. I shampoo as usual which I use Pet silk oat meal shampoo. Rinse well and put a generous amount on him and rub it in and take him out and blow dry him until its all gone about a couple of seconds. Rinse well and he is shinny and conditioned. I did this to Bella today and she is silky. Hope this helps. You might need to to a treatment. Cheryl/Jack/Bella

Hi Cheryl. Who makes the mega cholesterol conditioner, please? I've often resorted to using a leave in conditioner for us, like VO5, which works quite well on Ellie. Her breeder swore by Vitapointe!....& he's a top Yorkie judge. I'm still liking the Protect-a-Coat. It's definately made her hair easier to manage between baths. I wasn't expecting it to as, once it's dry, her coat feels like there's nothing in it but it's been much easier to keep the knots at bay. I used it on Button too & he looks amazing. His coat is getting really long now, nearly floor length & it's silky. He also really struts his stuff when he walks & it flows like you see in the show ring Just a pity he got a tiny bit too big to show, but then his breeder, same as Ellie's, would never have parted with him if he'd been smaller as it was his first litter by the American champion he'd just imported & he was a bit miffed at him growing a bit tall. So, next buy I think will be a gallon of the stuff plus some Ice on Ice.....we'll get there yet! xx Meggie
