| Do Yorkies shed their baby fur? Hello everyone, We have a fourteen week old puppy called Max, he seems to be shedding his baby hair, but I thought Yorkies didn't shed. He has been checked for fleas and sores, but there isn't anything wrong. There aren't any bald patches either. Another thing is that, although he is potty trained, if he does have an accident, he does know that he's done wrong, and slinks away to his crate, and blanks of the door with a little blanket that sits on his bedding. Is this the norm for these little babies. He'll always be our little baby, lol. This is my first post, and we live in Scotland. |

| Just want to say hello and welcome! Lucy didn't shed her puppy coat. I did have it cut off because it matted so badly.

| Hello Kathy, I have been told that they do shed their puppy coat and told that they don't. It's very confusing, and I'm a bit worried. Thank you for your welcome, my name is Vivienne. |

| Hi welcome! Mine didn't shed his baby fur but I usually keep him in a short coat. I do see some fur stuck on his shirt because every dog do shed a little but that is about it.

| Do you think I should take him to see the vet? His coat isn't thin, but I don't want to let things get out of hand. The hair he is shedding is very short. |

| I am not sure. Wait for a little for others to respond? I only have one Yorkie so maybe others can tell you more.

| Hello, I know these places well. It's really cold here at the moment. I wonder if the heating in the house has something to do with Max shedding? |

| Mine is doing this too. Started when it got cold. It's not the whole long hair just short ones. I notice them on the blankets they sleep on.

| Hello everyone, Max doesn't seem to be losing much hair now, but he did shed a lot. I was worried. This is really like having a baby in the house, and being a mum again or the first time. Max was sick whilst in the car today, and it meant I had to give him a bath even though he'd already had one a few days ago. His skin was a little dry, so I decided to massage pure coconut oil (from the health shop) well into his coat and skin before bathing him. Well, I was really surprised that he seemed to enjoy it, and his skin and coat looks healthy again. The coconut oil is solid, but turns liquid on contact with the skin, and can be used for a many different things as well as cooking. Now I know the remedy for problem skin. (I don't have shares in pure coconut oil, honestly). |

| I am not sure!!! But a couple of months ago I sent a picture of Banjo to his breeder! she replied with- looks like he is "blowing his baby coat"?? I have noticed it has gotten thicker/longer since them!! and the texture is a little differnet, too! Maybe some do- and maybe some don't! also in most animals there is a winter and summer coat! But I have really no answer for you! I just took notice of the term she used!!

| Hello, Well Max seems to have stopped shedding his coat now, I'm so glad. I thought there was something wrong with him. His coat is getting longer, but it is still curly, and seems to change colour a lot. He still looks like a waif lol. |
