| Grocery shopping with your Yorkie Hello, I live in Orangeville, Ontario. I have asked some people in my area about shopping with my Yorkie (in a carrier) and apparently lots of people do this at Zellers, WalMart, Drug stores and most non-food stores/restaurants. I wonder if this is because nobody noticed and didn't complain to management OR if it is okay. I would be interested in hearing from forum members about shopping with your pet in these kind of stores AND in particular, grocery stores. I'd be glad of any information, tips, etc. |

| ive seen p eople carry smaller dogs and shop with them and of course onb loor they're welcome EVERYWHERE! however, at grocery store, its a little iffy however, my mom does sneak mickey in inside her coat when she goes to dominion "aka metro" to go to tim hortons which is just at the entrance and i have taken mickey on a leash inside the same dominion to the bank machine which is next to tim hortons and no one has said anything. i guess this is because its really far from food but if your dog's in a carrier i don't think people will even notice that the dog's in there lol |

| Walmart sells food so they're not supposed to let any animals other than service animals in per health board regulations. Sometimes you can "get away" with taking them in in full view but that's only because the ones watching the door and maybe the surveillance never gave their policy manual a good read through |

| As for sizing the harness, you can always just buy it first and return it later if it doesn't fit. That's why for places selling pet supplies that don't allow your pets inside (at least not "openly" so), make sure they have a liberal return policy. |

| Personally, I think its inappropriate to bring animals near food or stores in general. I know we love our animals, but we are forcing our love on others. I see it like someone bringing a crying baby to church or the movie theater, etc. Its just not being considerate of others. There is a time and place for our pets, even if they are in carriers and if it feels like its bending the rules, then its probably not the right thing to do. Just my opinion. I'm not passing judgement on anyone else.

| When Odie was a baby I brought him Everywhere I went! I mean everywhere. He was in resturants, stores etc. He was too small to leave at home alone so I took him everywhere I went. (When I got him he was 8 oz so he was just too little to be left home alone.) Now he is much bigger and older, he is now 1 year old so he is old enough to be left alone and I don't bring him everywhere with me. I do still take him to Petsmart and other petstores but otherwise I don't take him into stores with me.

| i have a really good under cover bag and no one can see Romeo. I take him to most stores. We went to Trader Joe's yesterday. I know I shouldn't , but I don't think it's any worse than bringing some stinky fingered little kid with a runny nose. lol..

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I've brought Beatrice almost everywhere, anywhere that I'm not quite sure of ,I just keep the bag closed. She's very well behaved, she never makes a peep !We even taken her into restaurants, with the bag closed [of course] I've taken her into the Bay, and the Eaton's Center, the I.G.A grocery store,Pharmaprix. I take her on the metro[subway] and the buses and as long as I keep her bag closed ,they don't mind.I've even taken her to work with me one day,I had to go in at an odd time to do a client ,so I brought her with me.She just stayed on my coat on the floor beside me. |

YT 500 Club Member | We always took our Yorkie to Menard's, but now that they are selling groceries, we were told that she can no longer come in. We were met at the door and told to take her out. Of course you can always sneak anything into anywhere, but a place that sells food seems to be the one place that it is not acceptable.
