| Yeah I'm now very paranoid, after this happening so close. I bring him everywhere I can go on foot, except the grocery store. Honestly I've found that if you peak your head in the door and say, "hey can he/she come in... I can't leave him alone because of ..." if you're honest, and the place can let you in, they mostlikely will. |

My dogs aren't big fans of their pet purses, so I don't try to sneak them in places any more. However, my sister's yorkie LOVES her purse and no one ever seems to notice the 6 lb yorkie in the burberry (ish) bag. The Whole Foods on Bloor (in Toronto) provides 45 min of free pet sitting while you shop!

I totally want to take my baby with me shopping but unlike dogs, people are not allergic to them. Also once you let in our babies the precedence has been set for the big lumbering ouf of a dog to come in, or a put bull in a muzzle. I like places that are pet friendly. West Vancouver, Dunderay, Glebe, Parts of NY, and London. My sister is very allergic to dogs, but can handle Chewy cause there is no fur. But to the average person making a snap judgment a dog is a dog is a dog. They dont understand that yorkies are different from a German Shepard.

| We live in Downtown Toronto and take our girls in their purses everywhere. The only place I don't take them is to restaurants or places where food is served.....other than that I've never been turned away |

| I am a former Walmart manager (left a few months ago) in California for over 6 years and we are not legally allowed to tell people that they cant bring their dogs in the store because it can be considered discrimination and its against our policy even if other customers complain. Our store is a super center with food. When I was there I would see a dog at least once a day. People have put in complaints to corporate and they cant do anything either. We are not even allowed to ask if the animal is a service animal or not. I know your in a different location but our corporate is the same. |

| I know this is an old thread, but need to add, there have been times I have been out and about, not planning to any kind of shopping, a few times when I was out this summer and had Sir Cody with me, I realized I needed something in Home Depot. I called on my cell to ask if small dogs in a carrier were allowed in the store, I was told yes, Lowes also allows dogs, one time while I was out I realized I needed something at Wal-Mart, I called and asked the same question, I was told service dogs only. There was a thread on YT same as this one, I posted about Wal-Mart a member wrote the same thing that lilyorkiemilo wrote, they also wrote if I was stopped and told to leave I should ask to see the manager. However, I would never take the chance and go into Wal-Mart, it would be to embarrassing to me to be told to leave. Again this summer I was out an about, I was not supposed to be out long, so I didn't take water for little boy, as it turned out my outing was for several hours and the boy was panting, I had taken him into my bank, in a carrier had to do a special transaction that could not be done via the drive through, he was panting like crazy, while I was on the line waiting I looked around for a water cooler, saw none. When I got to the teller and finished my transaction I asked if there was a water cooler, I was told NO. There was a CVS close by Cody drinks Polar Springs bottled water and I buy it in CVS, he really needed a drink of water, so I took a chance, put him in his carrier (Cody weighs 12 lbs, not a light weight and carrier is a front strap on, so no hiding and sneak him in) All I wanted was water, and I was determined I WAS GOING TO GET THAT WATER at any cost lol, so in we went, I went first to the coolers to see if they had small cold Polar Springs water, NO they did not, so I went to where the large bottle were and got one, at check out the cashier made a big fuss over lil boy, he is a ladies man, he LOVES women and flirts with them lol, but I was not told dogs were allowed. If I am "planning" to go shopping I will call the store / stores first, if no pets are allowed then I leave him home. I would never take him to a grocery store or a supermarket, I know from years back about the health laws of animals where food is sold. At 12 lbs it is really not comfortable to tote the boy around, I do it only on rare occasions, if he was a 5 pounder, I would want to take him all over. So this has been my experience here in Pa. When I worked in Manhattan NY, I saw ppl take dogs all sizes, on leash into all store (never saw going into supermarkets) The Gap, Subways (the food store) just to name a couple, I was amazed to see Manhattan was so dog friendly, amazed because I was born and raised in NY, Da Bronx, and I was NEVER allowed in any store with one of my babies, I guess over the past 20 years shops have accepted the fact that our babies are now family members IDK lol
