Southern California Yorkie Meet-up 10/13/07

Sounds good to me. I hope everyone can make it (including Misty). I think the locations are just based on where the majority of people live. I think I am the only one up here in the South Bay area so I wouldn't want everyone to have to drive up here....I'm willing to travel to meet up! I'm sure Teddi will be glad to see everyone and show off her nice pretty smile now that she got 6 teeth pulled (and her breath smells great!).

I kind of get the impression that it comes down to not wanting to meet anywhere but in the Orange County area. Especially now that I see that the meetup location has been changed to Yorba park. I'm sorry if this sounds petty or whiny, but I'd be lying if I said my feelings weren't hurt by basically being told by a couple of people that they didn't believe me when I said it wasn't raining here.

i wasnt even sure if i was able to make it in the first place-but was planning on it(cuz it sounded so fun!!) we most definately would have been late as it is. i dont want you to think we cant drive other places.. chino hills is actually not that far from us, without traffic(but then again that goes for EVERYWHERE in southern ca. haha ) im sorry if you were bothered by the turn out.. i would have been too-especially because we were looking forward to it. It rained really hard last night, and was raining pretty consistently through the first part of the day. i cant make tomorrow (no matter where it takes place) so hopefully we can all do another one.. if not.. then i guess next month!! (avery is gonna go crazy, not meeting her new friends!!) But its probaby best we didnt go today->chloe looked so cute in her dress. hehe. avie would have wanted one for herself!! just kidding(but she was very cute!!) anyways.. i hope there are no hard feelings.. (like i said before we were going to be pretty late anyways..even though the rain was a burden and threw many of us off..the location was not a problem at all for me!! hope avery and i can meet you guys real soon!! xo.

Tim and i both said last night..how it figures, that it rains the one weekend we are hopefully gonna take Avery to see you guys. Even Tim was bummed about the weather and that we were going to be so late and might not make it.

Let me clarify...

I'm not upset by the turnout. By the time I headed out, I had already been told by Lisa that--despite my insistence that it did not rain like that here, despite the forecast that said rain would end by 10am, and despite my confirmation from a relative who lives 1 mile from the park that it was sunny and dry--she had changed it to the next day.

So, I'm not upset that no one showed up. By that time, I knew no one was coming. I am upset that my input was entirely disregarded. If I have no say in the matter, then I have no business being one of the coordinators for the meetup.

So, again, I don't mean for this to come out sounding whiny, though I know it does. Sorry, I don't know how to get it out without sounding that way. But I had a really awful week this week, and I was really looking forward to this. Chloe's been on limited activity since she was spayed 3 weeks ago, and she needed to get out and play.

Basically, a perfectly good day for a meetup was tossed aside, and I had no say in the matter.

PS. Often, cities in the Inland Empire do not get the intensity of rain that occurs in the Orange County cities. Storms often exhaust themselves before moving over the foothills and canyons that separate Orange County from San Bernardino county. This is why it is generally hotter and dryer out here...fwiw

I've been checking out this forum for many years now but haven't decided to join until now. I had really wanted to bring my girlfriend and our Yorkie out to our first Yorkie meet on this forum. I'm sorry to say that I have decided against it after hearing the whining that has gone on in this thread. I have seen on this forum several times a little bickering here and there, but this is the last straw for me personally. It beckons me back to high school with what I see here.

As far as the weather is concerned, it rained from about 7pm Friday night til 10am or so Saturday morning. For the rest of us to believe that the park wasn't gonna be completely muddy and sloppy is just naive. I even called a doctor friend who lives off of Madrugada in Chino Hills (about 3 blocks away from the park that the meet was supposed to be at) and he told me he had walked his Lab earlier that morning at the park and it was quite wet and muddy, especially in the grassier areas.

Maybe one day I'll come out to one of these meets. I had heard so many good things about them, but this thread soured me very much. I figured that I was going to be dealing with adults, but come to find out that there are children here who own these dogs.

Aaww Dr. McDreamy... erm......, Wilson, please reconsider, and come mingle with the "commoners" at one of our meetups. We were at that very same park today, in Chino Hills, and it was wonderful. Lisa, (Sukoshi'sMom) even had hubby Matt with her, and bless him, he stayed from 1:30 until just after 5PM! If my own Hubby saw there were more guys at the meetups, he might even come too...... I think he's scared of too many girls.... also beckons him back to High School, kinda like you. We definitely need more MEN in our group; even all the Yorkies there today were female; don't quite know how Brave Matt could even take breath under that huge estrogen cloud that wafted around him.
Please don't be frightened off by one teeny little upset. We had sooooo much fun today, even if the babies got a bit "muddied" up.
Lisa and Ronda - where's the pictures??? We need them as proof to show this kind gentleman, just how well we can get along.
Oh! and before I forget... where ARE my manners!

You guys have GOT to keep this Southern California meetup group together! Please don't take this the wrong way, because I love every single one of you and your Yorkies. But the drama is better than 90210!

The first meetup was incredible. A football field of Xpens, a dozen adorable Yorkies, hot chicks, rich chicks, sunny skies and great pictures.

This week's episode, from a viewer's standpoint of course, was EVEN BETTER! The president of the club is jilted by the group and resigns, apologies abound.

Then a mysterious Dr. James Wilson comes out of nowhere (please! please! tell us you're a plastic surgeons specializing in breast augmentation!) and badmouths the saucy ex-president!

If Heather Locklear shows up next week, I'm moving to the OC and changing my name to Ricardo.

Just kidding, you guys. I hope you can laugh about it, mend some fences and be ready when I get there in December!

Well hellooooooo Ricardo..... are you and Lucy enjoying your weekend in San Diego? You shoulda' come to the park today..... could have warmed your toes with the ducks in their pond, before heading up back North again where your appendages will be frostbitten in a matter of minutes. We definitely could do with some more testosterone in our little group, as you can see, when I attempted to woo the good Doctor (Plastic surgeon/Vet/Gastroenterologist?) back into the fold. And besides which, our "furgurls" could have fought over the oh-s0 macho Eddie and Jack. If you come back in December, we promise to at lease TRY and behave, but of course, ya never know...... girls will be girls....LOL (The graphic is of us making up, NOT strangling each other, you understand...)

Mike - Your synopsis of the SoCal drama has me rolling...laughing my butt off! As Lauren said, we met at the park in Chino Hills today, and we had a great time. It was a beautiful park, but we all agreed the park was still plenty muddy today, so we are glad we didn't bring the babies out in it yesterday. Ronda brought her sister-in-law and her SIL's 2 kids who live 3 miles from the park (if I recall correctly), and her SIL said she had actually told Ronda that she wasn't going yesterday, as they'd received too much rain and it was too cold for her kids and our small dogs to be out in it (her perspective from only 3 miles away). So, I'm glad the majority of the group wanted to wait the extra day. Matt and I would've gone yesterday if that's what the group wanted, but given that I was cringing even today as Sukoshi was rolling in the mud while Lauren and Matt were setting up the x-pens, I was glad it had an extra day to sort of dry out. I'll post some pics of the babies in a few minutes after I get them uploaded. I don't think I really got any of the park or even us humans, but I took several of the babies. I think Ronda may have gotten some of her niece and nephew down by the lake with the duks though, so maybe she'll post some of her pics too. Be back in a few...

Here are the rest of my pics. I have several others, but they are all very similar, so I'm only posting these few. These last 4 pics show Teddi (Ronda's), Mango (Lauren's), and Sukoshi (Matt and mine), and I especially love the last pic because it shows all 3 dogs when I got up to give them some of Cindy's (chattiesmom) Yorkie Yummies! That certainly got their attention !!!!!
