| Humane Society No More Hi, I wanted to share my experience with the Humane Society in Michigan. Ive had Izzy for about 3.5 months now. From day one, I took him to the Humane Society Vet Clinic for his shots and checkups. No problems with the vets, they were great friendly etc. My main reason for going was everyone told me that they were good and reasonably priced. So two weeks ago, Izzy got sick...it was on a Saturday. He ate something he wasnt supposed to, something off of the floor. So he was vomiting and had blood in his stool...I freaked out, so I called the Vet (MI Humane Society) and told them that I needed to bring him in right away, I explained what was happening. First she asked if he was one of their adopted pets. I said "No". Then her response to me was: "Well we do not have any more EMERGENCY appointments for today"....Huh???? There is no such thing as an EMERGENCY appointment!!!!! I could have reached through the phone and shook that woman!! So vomiting and bloody stool isnt emergency enough!...Maybe if he was half dead, they would find more "appointments" Long story short, I will not be taking Izzy back there again. I found a great Vet not too far from the Humane Society and they were wonderful!! Jefferson Veterinary Hospital in Detroit. The doctors actually gave me some very helpful information aside from what I came in for. I really appreciated that. The nurses were so nice, they offered me something to drink which I didnt expect. They even called to check up on him a few days later....how nice was that!!

| I am glad that all is well with Izzy. These little boogers are like vacuum cleaners --- sometimes it seems like they intentionally zero in on the "no-no"'s. I It is such a wonderful ending to a near tragic situation that you found such a GREAT vet. Never know when you'll need him |

| Izzy. Same thing happened to me but at my private vet of ten years. My Noel had what I thought to be an abcess. It appeared out of no where. I called first thing in the morning and explained to them that Noel had a big abcess on her leg and that it was really bothering her and that we had noticed it late last night. I was told they were booked solid. I asked well what about emergencies and was told that they are not taking any emergency appointments and are refering them to the Emergency Animal Hospital (Which is about a 45 min. drive). I spoke with the office manager too and she refused an appointment. TEN years we had this vet and we pay top dollar there and always pay them right away and never question the fees. I was really pissed, so I can understand how you felt. I ended up calling another vet by us and explaining the situation and they got her in right away. Turned out to be a hotspot and not an abcess but I had no idea as none of my dogs ever had a hot spot. She must have been allergic to something. Glad your pup is alright. Elaine |

| Isint that the humane society thats on that show animal cops? (I could be wrong.) But if it is they act like they really care on the show. Thats just crazy that they would treat an animal in such need the way they treated yours.

| I am so sorry that happened to you My cat USED to go to the local humane society animal hospital too.........only because when I adopted him......he was too little to get neutered (8 weekds old). They gave me a free neuter certificate. Anyhow, when I took him.........it went well but I didn't like the place. They were just too overwhelmed and not-friendly. We have a wonderful lady vet now

| Karla - I'm so glad Izzy is okay!! Stupid Humane Society. At least you found a great vet out of the ordeal!! I might even get their number and directions from you for an emergency cause I don't like the Southgate Emergency Vet at all!!

| Yep that is the one! They are always fighting crime in the Detroit area. It is crazy. That is why I was so upset because they care so much about the abandoned animals why wouldnt they just see my little 4lb puppy?
