Even after looking at Yorkie pictures for the past few years I don't think I could asses a level topline, good tail set, angulation, movement, etc. like our reputable breeders and savvy members can. A good bite and ears maybe. That is why for me if I do decide to find a companion for Buster I will research and find a great breeder whose knowledge, experience, and critical eyes are trained to asses these standards. For me I do understand why people buy dogs unaware, many times it is because they are trusting and believe what misinformation they are being told. I am not disagreeing with the people here that maintain doing your research, that is the wisest course of action. But many people buy things because of how they look cars, furniture, appliances, clothing etc only to find out later that underneath they are crap. People date someone because that person is good looking only to find out later that the person is a jerk. People don't do the research when they are planning on having kids so I can see why many wouldn't when considering a pet. I have have learned a lot from YT and personal research but in comparison most of my friends with pets have done very little research.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() Kewpie is sweet. I posted somewhere a long time back, about helping my friend find a nice Havanese dog. That breed personally I know nothing about. But I do know good breeders and in general good dogs. Most folks who see puppies in person, just fall in love right away. That is the first mistake, research the breeder before hand. Find out the health of their breeding lines beforehand. My friend was just like many folks when we visited this breeder, she fell in love with the puppies. She was barely listening to what the breeder said. But I was for sure. We were lucky in the fact all the puppies there were already sold, and she would have to go on a waiting list.

| ![]() My roxy isn't show quality either, but even if i was offered 3,000 for her id say no. I love her even though people say shes just a dog. My husband used to laugh at me because one time it was so hot she was getting so weak she wouldnt move. i rushed to the store i gave her pedyalite and karo syrup.we recently thought she was gone although there was no waythe doors were locked, she was asleep in our cabinets. he ran outside and started calling her asking neighbors, i said see im not the only that cares for her a lot. also, My roxys hair isnt perfectly straight it used to but i dont know what happened. |

| ![]() When ppl buy something they need to educate themselves. The Dog would make a good pet. But to try to sell the pup for $2500 is crazy. And someone to pay that much is ..well they didn't educate themselves. Moki is pet quality. I paid 1/2 that. But his sire Sired a World Champion. The dam was a Champion. So I belive I'm paying for health and close to Conformation. I don't need a show dog. I shave hs hair. I just wanted a "healthy" dog..WHIRLWINDS HIGH HOPES - World Pedigree DataBase Yorkshire Terrier, Yorkshire terrier Pedigree DataBase. ![]() To me, it's the same as saying that a pup comes from Champion bloodlines. Only to find out that the last Ch was 5 or 6 generations ago. I'm not sure if it is intended dishonesty, ignorance on the part of the breeder or just laziness on the part of the buyer.
