| ![]() She has a pedigree, and is AKC registered and was Champion Sired. She wasn't ever evaulated by a judge or expert but she still could be, couldn't she? I want to produce the best possible puppies and in order to produce the best possible puppies, I need the best possible stud dog whom I'm still in search for....

| ![]() I don't know if someone already wrote this but here is what I would look for in Pebbles. Does she have roachback? Are her ears the right size? Does she have a nice coat the parts down the middle? Does she have an underbite or overbite? How much does she weigh? Does she come from a line of free whelpers? Has she been tested for liver disease? Are her lines clear of any and all liver disease? Does she have Luxating Patella? Have her eyes and ears been checked? Have her hips and knees been checked? Has she been checked for STDs? All of these questions go for the male too. Happy Breeding! ![]()

![]() In regards to c-sections, some female do require one in order to safely deliver the pups. If you vet advises they they feel ahead of time that your female will have to have one, then she is not a good candidate for breeding. A c-section is not an option or preference you choose--a female should only have a section when it is the ONLY option for safe delivery for both her and the pups...a last resort, if you will. ![]() Last edited by BamaFan121s; 10-15-2007 at 04:58 PM. | |

| ![]() She really should be no less than 5lbs. to breed. Is her back straight? Or does she have a hump in the middle or a dip? You said she has an underbite... that's not a good thing. And she tested positive for liver disease?? I would never, ever breed a female with these faults. JMHO, I'm really not trying to be mean. I would seriously have her evaluated and I would talk to the breeder about the liver disease.

| ![]() Colleen, this is a really good explanation about what makes a responsible breeder. Go through each category and see if you can answer "yes" to every one of them. http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/Fair/1901/chart.html |

If you are unsure of any of these questions....My suggestion is that you need to know them before you ever contemplate breeding. Start with reading the standard and go from there.

| ![]()
I don't know if someone already wrote this but here is what I would look for in Pebbles. Does she have roachback?-? unsure of what that is... Are her ears the right size? What would be the right size, they aren't too big I'm still unsure. Head Does she have an underbite or overbite?-underbite Small and rather flat on top, the skull not too prominent or round, the muzzle not too long, with the bite neither undershot nor overshot and teeth sound. Either scissors bite or level bite is acceptable. The nose is black. Eyes are medium in size and not too prominent; dark in color and sparkling with a sharp, intelligent expression. Eye rims are dark. Ears are small, V-shaped, carried erect and set not too far apart. Does she have a nice coat the parts down the middle?-yes, it's not long though Coat . Quality, texture and quantity of coat are of prime importance. Hair is glossy, fine and silky in texture. Coat on the body is moderately long and perfectly straight (not wavy). It may be trimmed to floor length to give ease of movement and a neater appearance, if desired. The fall on the head is long, tied with one bow in center of head or parted in the middle and tied with two bows. Hair on muzzle is very long. Hair should be trimmed short on tips of ears and may be trimmed on feet to give them a neat appearance. How much does she weigh?-4 1/3lbs Does she come from a line of free whelpers? This means do the females that came before her; Dam/Granddam/Great GrandDam/Great Granddam give birthwithout c-sections Has she been tested for liver disease?Yes, positive (she tested positive)....shouldn't be bred at all Are her lines clear of any and all liver disease?-Yes Does she have Luxating Patella?-No (was deemed totally clear and do you have the documentation with your vet's results)Have her eyes and ears been checked?-Were these Checked by Specialists Have her hips and knees been checked?-Checked by orthopedic Specialists Has she been checked for STDs?-Yes. was a smear performed on her. Documentation of said tests....However, this test must be performed just prior to breeding. All of these questions go for the male too
