Sadly, the reports are false. Such a shame that people behave in hateful ways. USDA breeders have many surprise inspections. The purpose is to assure safe, sanitary, and loving environments for animals. Rather than those who post unsubstantiated claims, I suggest people contact USDA. One such contact would disprove these claims. I encourage people do that. This forum should be used for good not to harm.

Hhhmmm......I think I will trust my own experiences as opposed to somebody who's had a total of 4 posts and seems overly insistent on getting her opinion across.

I am sure your instincts have served you well, and I respect that. But to harm someone based on rumor and innuendo is wrong. Logically I would think if it would make sense to verify facts when possible. Especially something as serious as this. If my relatively small number of postings means I do not have a valid opinion, I apologize for that.

What rumor would that be? My dog has been in the vet hospital a number of times - FACT. A picture of my dog is posted on Cheryl's website without my permission - FACT. I googled Cheryl and she has both a website for Yorkies and Cairn Terriers - FACT.
I never said anything about the state of her kennels as I have never seen them. What I did state was that I was disappointed to find a picture of my dog under her tails of approval when I never gave permission and certainly wasn't sending any type of approval on such an ill dog who has suffered immensely, wether it be due to bad breeding or otherwise.

Puppy mill, what can I do?
We got our little Tina from a woman in Missouri just under two years ago. When my boyfriend went to pick her up, he saw (and took pictures of) about 100 yorkies and other small breeds in small chicken wire cages in a barn. When we had paid for Tina, we kept trying to contact the breeder about when we could pick her up, she avoided us for almost a week! He finally drove out there to pick her up, and she still didn't want to give up our dog! She finally let go, but she was really rude. So, once we brought our little girl home, she disappeared off the face of the 'net! I haven't been able to locate her online for over a year, but today, I tried again and ran across her website. She has over 10 females and five males that she breeds listed on her site, and WHO KNOWS how many more that she doesn't show online. Anyway, our dog has had SEVERAL genetic problems, and hasn't ever been in good health because she was such a runt, but I'd NEVER return her to the conditions she came from! So, what can I do about shutting her down? I never really realized what horrible conditions she was raised in until I saw posts on here of other puppy mills, and I thought, that looks exactly like where she came from!!! I guess my question is, what can someone do about a puppy mill that they know exists? I've got her address, website, and phone number. Would the ASPCA go out there if we reported poor living conditions? I know that in some cities and states it is illegal to own that many dogs. Well, anyway, here is the link to her site. Let me know what y'all think about it!

I've done enough research to know that the USDA is not that reliable as the same w/AKC. As a matter of fact, there was a special on TV just the other night regarding AKC. Seems AKC had a clinch w/their computer system & it was marking kennels "satisfactory". Seems no one was to concerned about it. Hummmm

I've e-mailed the OP to ask her to send me copies of the pictures. If she still has them. And to post an update.

This is just my opinions & don't mean to upset anyone.

Wow, I am going to pm Lauren right away. I don't think she's aware of what's going on with this thread. She's the original poster from when she first got little Tina. This is an old thread that has been resurrected. She may not even be aware that this controversy has broken out.

I have been a yorkiesitter for T-bone and Tina for several years now and I personally know Lauren and her boyfriend. They are very honest people and Tina has SERIOUS neurological and other issues. I am much more willing to believe a long-time member of YT who I know personally than I am someone who comes out of the woodwork to defend a breeder that is on the USDA list. While that may not be a definitive list of puppy mills, it IS a huge red flag.

I do see she has 2 web sites, which I think is silly..

As for being USDA, this does NOT mean a USDA breeder is a puppy mill!! Honestly I am tired of people saying that.

There are tons of breeders who are not USDA that are mills. There are always going to be good and bad, But after I reported a breeder to the USDA they went to her kennel the next day. She was shut down!! So the USDA, IMO do more then the ASPCA and animal control.

It is too bad when people get puppies who are sick, been there done that as they say and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

But nobody can tell by a web site whether someone is a "puppy mill" or bad breeder. References always need to be checked, and not the ones on their web sites.

While I don't doubt you and the OP have sick dogs, the original OP waited TWO years to post a complaint about this breeder, and I question her motives due to waiting so long. And why on earth after seeing dogs stacked in wire crates would ANYONE walk away with puppy from a place like that.

I would not take the puppy and then demand or sue to get my money back. Pictures are worth a thousand words they say, the pictures the BF took would of held up in small claims court and she would of gotten her money back for the pup..

We have to take responsibility as consumers too..

The scary thing about her website is the convincing details she puts on the website. It makes me belive that she is a legit breeder and knows much about the welfare of the puppies and health. So sad and scary

so very sorry your pup has been ill. That is heartbreaking. I have one that has had problems that I bought locally. Poor thing. May I ask what kind of health issues you have had to deal with?

Hi. I just wanted to post that I received my dog from a breeder in Missouri. Her name is Cheryl Nims. I had a dog growing up that my family received from a friend locally. He was a good dog, but passed away when I was 16 years. My family never got another dog. We were devastated when our dog past away.

Now, I am an adult and decided that I wanted another dog since I haven't had one since I was 16 years old.

Mind you, my personality is very hyper, uptight, and nervous. I was on the "quest" for the perfect dog, perfect breeder, and perfect personality in my new dog.

I researched for months. It took me 8 months to finally decide that I was going to purchase a dog on the internet. Boy, was I nervous about purchasing via the internet.

I called about 75 different breeders across the US. I live in NJ. I asked about everything (healthy, personality, size, AKC paperwork, vaccinations, etc..). I was very nervous about having a puppy delivered to me in NJ.

Cheryl Nims is the BEST breeder. She is honest, trustworthy, and raises loving, sweet, easy going, and gorgeous yorkie puppies.

My toy yorkie is the love of my life. He is gorgeous, smart (understands directions, commands, etc). People think he can be a "show dog" that is how beautiful he is. My parents love him so much that they "dog sit" when I am at work.

I am truly blessed to have found such a wonderful breeder (Cheryl Nims).

She raises amazing dogs.

Actually, all USDA kennels are puppymills. That's what the term "mill" means:

Large, high volume commercial kennels are "puppy factories". They produce puppies for the retail pet industry. They are required to be licensed by the USDA.
