its so great you took her in knowing she might be preg-o. it shows you care so much about her and the future health of her puppies. Good luck to you guys. A lot of great information has been given already. That debbiejensen site is great. |
Its hard to tell from only 2 readings...usually u start checking a week or so before they are due and check morning and eve around the same time to get an idea of whats normal and then when it drops u know. Although some breeders state that what works for some bitches doesn't apply to others..all depends on the particular dog. My experience was that a week before Tea' was due I checked her morning and eve and she stayed around 100, 101, in there somewhere, and then the evening before she whelped (she whelped at 10:30am), her temp dropped to around 99 (by the way the first thermometer I bought was awful, I went back for a more expensive brand). If your girl goes into labor and you're scared, please post or ask one of us for a call, because we will certainly help you in any way we can. And if you even have the slightest doubt there is trouble, always better safe than sorry, call the vet... |
i think this person is doing everything she can for this mommy thats why she is on here for help. Is there a breeder on here she can call for assistance or near her that can help when its time to deliver? im sorry sweetie im no help lol i dont breed but i hope everything turns out okay and just stay on here and keep us updated so some YTers can help you. |

Hello everyone and Thank you all for the support. My feelings wern't really hurt I am just extremely emoitional threw all of this. I love my baby with all my heart and just couldn't imagin living without her, I love her as if she was my child. This is a really small town i live in and i think thats why I'm not getting any where with the vets around here. Everyone is old fashioned and they think you should let nature take it's course! Well I am a mother of 2 boys and they were both born with c-section and I lost my first little boy"heavens angel". These puppies that are in my baby's belliy's are now a part of me and I will do everything I can to keep the mother and baby's safe. "with help from this site" anyway last night she slept under my bed all night which is unusual she always sleeps with me and all morning she has stayed there. Her temp last night said 100.1 and as soon as she wakes up I will take her morning temp. Can any one tell me if what I saw yesterday was a mucus plug. It looked just like snot but there wasn't alot of it maybe the size of a dime? |
i am just now reading the tail end of this thread. being in rural Ky., I understand the vet problem. Mine refuses to even do an x-ray on a pregnant mama so I drive an hour away to another town when I have pregnant dogs. Sounds like she iss getting close. Do you have her a quiet place away from the family and etc to whelp? That is why she is going under the bed. if I missed that somewhere, I'm sorry. I will also pm you my number if you want it but YorkieRose is far more experienced than I. Just wanted you to know I am willing to help. Do you have a heating pad to put under your whelping box? |
Yes she does have aheating pad in her whelping box and yes her box is in the spare bedroom awayfrom the family but she doesn't go in it. if she's not under the bed she is where ever I am. She also hasn't been using the restroom as must as she has been and she has been licking her self a bit more today but I don't see anything down there? |
help I have had a few members say they wanted to call but it was 1 or 2 am...if I can give a bit of advise, it may help, or I will tell you want I would do..my husband usually answers the phone in the middle of the night and says.."It's for you DR. Cupp"...sometimes it is only a matter of having a level headed person listen to you and make suggestions. I do not have to get up and go to work, so it isn't a big deal to call me. |
Thanks so much and I will call when the time comes if it ever comes. How do I knw that she isn't over due? |
oh I Forgot The Vet Told Me Also That If She Goes Into Distress While Haveing Her Puppies That I Would Have To Take Her To The Emergency Vet In Fort Wayne Which Is 2 Hours From Here! Won't That Be To Late By The Time I Notice Complication? What Do I Do? |
Here's wishing you well and a smooth delivery. Can't wait to see those babies. Lynne |
