| Aww sweetie.. I don't think anyone is upset with you. I know you are scared and they are just trying to give some good advice. She very well could be in labor already. Unless the vet checks her out and gives the thumbs up that she will be able to have them on her own, I would be very worried. I know you love her and I also know that you don't want to lose her. God forbid that one is too big for her to have and it is usually too late by the time an inexperienced owner realises that she can't do it on her own. I really would call the vet and INSIST that they see her to check her out. 60 to 63 days means she is due NOW. I wish you good luck and I hope she does okay. How old is she? I will be praying for you and her. Hugs Sonya

Please know that no one here is blaming you or trying to make you feel bad. The lady you got her from is to blame and should have never let this situation happen. You are trying to do what is best for her and I think everyone here recognizes that. They have been in your shoes many times and are just trying to make sure that you understand the seriousness of the situation--lack of hands on experience (although no fault of your own) can mean you won't recognize warning signs of problems that a seasoned breeder would pick up on. Just try to take in everything you are being told and know that it is being given to you with the best intentions. Welcome to YT and good luck with the whelp. | |

| Baby Crazy, I wanted to mention that I think for Yorkies it is 18 months or second heat that they shouldn't be bred before. Do you know if this was her second heat?

| No i don't know that. She didn't give me alot of info on her. I just fell inlove with her the minute I seen her and figured that if she was pregnant i would deal with it. |

You said she was 1 1/2 to 2 years old so this WOULD be her second heat. Is there any way you can arrange for someone to be there tomorrow when you have to leave? She really CANNOT be left alone right now. Especially if the father dog is "her size, maybe a little fatter". If he was smaller than her it would leave a little more room for comfort although not much. Her first litter should not be done on her own. Have you got an x-pen set up to help confine the mom with the babies. I have lived in Indiana before and I know how cold it can get even this time of year. I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep those babies warm from the minute they are born. And if you are not there with mom, most of the time the first time mom's have to be TAUGHT how to be a good mom. I know with Sunshine, she follows me everywhere and I had a hard time keeping her with her babies for a few days. After her milk came in she was much better. The point being that if she were to have the babies alone ( assuming she can whelp them alone) and you were gone for a few hours and she doesn't stay right with them, the babies might very well die before you get home. I am not trying to scare you but I think the breeders on here can tell you that nothing will kill a baby faster than getting chilled. So it is really impoortant to not leave her alone and to have her confined to a small area. How is she doing now?

| I could tell right from your first post that you were very caring and concerned about your mom to be... Another thing that I did have on hand was unwaxed dental floss for tying off of the umbilical cord if it kept bleeding... my little guy who came out breech (i always say assbackwards..lol) didn't have his cord chewed off so I had to cut it with dull sissors and since it was bleeding, tied it off with the dental floss. Worked great. All the others were just fine. Debbie |

| I don't have any unwaxed dental floss. Would yarn or thread be ok, if not I can go get some unwaxed dental floss? Also if the mom doesn't chew the cord off were exactly do I cut it? I've seen pictures and the cords seem to be a couple of inches long. Could I cut it to short? or to long? |

| Well I just got back from the vets office and this one told me the same thing as the first one. So I don't know what to do, I guess I just ahve to wait until she is in hard labor before anyone will help me figure this out! I just wish I Knew what i was doing. I have read many hours of delivering puppies and talk to many people about what this "whelping details, but I am extremely nervious. Today at about noon I could have sworn I seen a mucus plug "it looked like snot" andthought the vet would give me more info of when and if she will be ok and I got nothing. He didn't tell me anything that I haven't already read about. |

| Oh ya and also today at about 11:30 i took her temp. and it said 98.9 and when the vet took it at 3:00 it said 101.8. Could her temp. raise from being nervous? or am I just not doing it right? |
