It's all a matter of what you prefer, I suppose. There are some breeders that I have tons of respect for that get the oxy shot everytime, there are some who don't. I do think there is a time for it, but not just as a routine practice. Who knows, something may surface to change my mind one day, but that is where I stand for now. Again, just my opinion. | |

I've only used the oxy shot once... and that was with the direction of my vet... since my Bitsy was in heavy labor and not delivering (I did have to make sure there weren't any puppies in the birth canal first).... I gave her the shot and 10 minutes later the pup was born. I've never used it to "clean out" any of my girls. I do have a supply of in my refrigerator but wouldn't use it unless my vet told me to.

| CONGRADULATIONS NELLY!!! Great Job - Well done. Did you happen to know about cutting the tails & dewclaws? My Vet recommended I bring them in at 3-5 days old.

| We called and talked to our vet today and he said no need for a shot unless she was having heavy bleeding. So we have choosen not to. The mom and pups do have an appointment tomorrow with the vet however to do the claws and tails. Puppies are doing well, feeding ALOT. Mom is being wonderful and taking great care of her babies. We have 3 girls and 1 boy. Here are a few more pics of them. I just cant get over this entire experience and am so happy. We both had tears in our eyes. She has really surprised us with doing everything herself. The previous owner said she didn't break the sac and that she had one died becuz she had it under the bed and left it. She did everything on her own, she has us all so proud. Mom won't eat her dry dog food, so we have been feeding her canned dog food and the whelping pudding. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND CONCERN, I COULD NOT HAVE NOT MADE IT THROUGH THIS WITH OUT ALL YOUR HELP AND ADVICE. |

| Just wanted to update everyone, Mom and puppies are doing great. Nelly is coming out of her box alot more now and spending time with us and the other dogs. She has even played a little bit with them. The puppies are getting so BIG so FAST, its just amazing. They are gaining weight very well. I saw the growth chart on Sugar's Moms website and its not a week yet, but they are above the expected weight already. We are so proud of her, she is doing amazing with the puppies. There have been a few problems, but with the help of everyone on here we have taken care of it and moved on. I have a few new pics ill post. Thank you to everyone who has given me advice, its been a huge help! |
