Pregnant Mother Questions...labor Our yorkie is due any day now, at 630 we took her temp and it was 99.0 and 2 hours later it was 99.6, and yesterday it was 100.5. She is very restless, stomach has gotten hard, and her belly has seemed to drop. She has been going to the bathroom a lot and seems to be trying to lick back there. Do you think it's time, or least getting close? This is our 1st litter with her, she has had 3 previous litters and we were told she is a great mother, we just need to break the sack. So obviously we are starting to get a little nervous. We had her in the vet last week for xrays and the were told she was having 4 and everything seemed good. Hopefully someone can give us advice or pointers what to look for or watch out for. THanks

| It's probably getting close... my girls go to the bathroom alot right before it's time... (the poops! ). She should start digging when it is getting real close. Seems like there is a litter of pups born just about everyday here!!! Best of luck! Keep us posted.

I have a hard time going by the temps because it fluctuates so much. Mine usually go down and then go back up and then back down and stay there and they deliver in a day or two. What day is she on now? If she is doing alot of licking back there she may be ready. On my last litter I didnt even realize Bailey was in labor until I saw here bubble so it is hard to say. Good luck with her and keep us posted.

With those temps she may have a few more days. Although you can't always go by temps, but they can be very telling. More so are the collected symptoms. She may have diarrhea, some vomiting, starting to nest, like you said licking alot, peeing alot (at least she's think she has to). Panting and shivering also. Best of luck to you. Susan

My girls also do the temp down then up then back down thing. when it goes down the second time, they usually start labor that day (or night). FYI, please don't ever stretch your breedings out over ten days again. Not good. Good luck. I will be on most of the day if you need me. i also answered your pm this morning.

Her temp will fluxate up and down as she gets closer to her time.....when it stays down for 12 hours you can pretty much count on that she'll be delivering. She most likely conceived on her first breeding, 2nd one 10 days later, though she may have been receptive wasn't necessary and produced nothing.

Thank you, She has been going to the bathroom alot, peeing, and this morning she started to scratch at her blankets in whelping box we built her. SHe lifted up the blankets and crawled underneath and layed there for awhile, now she came back out and is just laying ontop of them. She doesnt seem to want me out of her sight today.
