| Hi Holly and welcome to YT. Why dont we stop for a minute and take some deep breaths. I wouldnt even no were to start for you to get breeding rights, as it is a bit different here in Ireland, we dont really have that kind of restriction. Anyways as am sure you release most people here love the breed and are very passionate about them, so somtimes when the name kennel comes up we think of the horror stories we all hear about. Maybe some are just alitle sensitive to the word.lol. Im realy no help to you, but you sould take as much advice here as you possibly can, as for me being a new breeder, I could not have come to a better place for advice. I wish you well, and hope you keep us updated on your situaition.

| I'm so sorry that misunderstandings have run you off already. If this is truly your dream don't let anyone dissuade you. Pursue your dream with all of your heart and never stop learning. Good luck

| Holly. You have several different breeds of dogs that you breed? German Shephards, Beagles and unregistered Yorkies? Seems more like the start of a small Puppymill to me. Sorry, if people take offense to that but breeding different breeds of dogs and looking to start a kennel rather doesn't mean you love Yorkies, just means you the love the $$ they may provide to you. i never asked what makes you an expert, i was just asking what will set you apart from the rest.....meaning, what will you do that will make your yorkie kennel better than the rest?? what will you offer? what kind of hg?, what will make someone come to your kennel vs someone's else's. that is all. i meant nothing mean by that. every kennel wants to be different in some way to attact consumers. i just wanted to know what you are going to do that is different than the rest so that people will want to come to you.

| Hi Holly, Welcome. I just love it when people on this site are so QUICK to judge. She never said anything about breeding the GS or Beagles. You just assumed. Assumption is one of the reasons I have nearly stopped coming here, aside from trying to find a breeder who owes me money for a dog not delivered and is a senior donating member on this site. So much for integrity...I think several members of this site need to take a step back and learn all of the facts about a person before jumping the gun. SO many times good people have been run off of here for what someone THOUGHT was a good reason..when they really had no clue. In canada there are several words that are used different than they are here in the US. Similar uses, but different none the less. I have 5 Yorkies and 5 IGs And YES, they are all in my house! I have a 5300sq foot home that most would kill to live in. I ALSO have an English Mastiff. Does that make ME a puppy miller? Hardly, but if i just came on and said, I have 11 dogs, you would all hang me. I also have a cocker spaniel with puppies. She is a rescue I got FROM a puppy miller, so currently, i have 16 dogs, all loved and cared on and smothered with attention. There are 8 people in our household. So...on the outside, depending on how I worded things, you could all think the worse, when in reality, I have spent 3000 dollars in vet care in the past 3 weeks for my rescues, and all of my dogs are spoiled rotten. So, be careful to judge those you do not know personally. Kristie |

| Kristie. I'll respond to your post since it seems to be directed to me. Having 11 dogs in your home does not make you a puppymiller, but breeding 11 different dogs certainly wouldn't make you a reputable breeder. I have five dogs in my home, and like you many would think that I lived in a hell hole, BUT my dogs are all vetted, groomed, my home is immaculate, they all live inside our big home and the key word is they are ALL spay and neutered. I never judged anyone. This person came on here with attitude as soon as someone tried to give her the advice she asked for. "SHE" said she bred German Shephards and Beagles. She neglected to say that that was in the past. If I misread her post, then that was my mistake. A reputable breeder, a good breeder is not one that just loves the breed but rather someone who has researched, worked hard and has learned from the ground up on how to better the breed, this being done before buying "Stock" breeders just to make puppies and call them Yorkshire Terriers. Like you have have rescues too and I have seen what happens when someone comes along and decides to mate Yorkies without the knowledge of trying to improve the breed. We have all seen it too many times. Elaine. |

| I'm lucky enough to have a federal contractor for a husband, and am heavily invested in real estate. I can afford what a lot of people cant and am very grateful for it. It wasn't always this way. I am actually downsizing my yorkie group to 3 in the very near future...one of my girls has grown too big for breeding and has a very good pet home..she goes in to be spayed this Wednesday. And my out of standard male is going to my grandma for her 80th birthyday. She lives alone (on my aunts ranch property) and needs Tonka to keep her company. Kristie |

| P.S. I wasn't stating that you breed your 11 dogs either. I was just saying that owning 11 dogs is much different then breeding 11 different dogs. AND, this is the point I was trying to get across to the original poster. In that loving animals, taking care of them and even having experience birthing them does not make you qualified to breed a specific breed. More is needed to make you reputable. Elaine |

| Well i dont want to add to the argument. so im just going to say that if your going to start your own kennel, maybe you could go to a couple of shows, if there arent any in your area than travel down to the U.s and meet a couple of breeders and pick their brains. keep some of their numbers or emails and im sure they'll answer any questions you have and im sure they know alot of inside info and tips to help you out if traveling isnt an option, visit a couple of websites of breeders (alot of them are posted right here on YT and check those out) and even build a website on your own, because that is a great way to advertise. I know it doesnt seem like it now, but really alot of these YT members are GREAT help, they just really love dogs, like we all do <3 |
