| opinions please I posted about the pointy nose and she was beautiful in person. I di dnot get her . The seller said she weighed 6 1/2 and I brought my scale and she weighed 8#. her tail was docked to long it still had some tan showing. He said his kids did not want him to sell her any way. Ok next a puppy male AKC $650 weighing 2# at 8 weeks. I looked at the growth chart he should between 4.5 -5# is that an accurate guess. the seller said both parent's were 4#. She was asking 800 but said she would take 650 for good home and she is going out of town. Help I am obessed with finding the right one. Plus there were only 2 pups in this litter does that have anything to do with how big they will get? Just starting out to breed do you get a male first or the female or just a male for stud. I am clueless so pleaase don't be ruthless I respect your wisdom. TIA Last edited by trimhair; 03-25-2007 at 07:31 PM. |

| Are you looking for a pet or a broodbitch? If you're looking for a brood bitch there is much to consider besides size. What line is she from? What are her strengths and her faults? Does she come from a line of free whelpers, C-sections are expensive and hard on both mom and pups. Is she a good representation of the breed? Is her sire and dam good representations of the breed. Has she been checked for congenital diseases, brucellosis, temperment tested? If this will be our foundation bitch treat carefully or you could end up disappointed and lose alot of money. Good brood bitches are very hard to find, I know cause I'm searching too. Good luck.

| pet If you are looking for a pet, it is one thing and a show/breed is another...as tot he tail, that is in the eye of the beholder..much better too long then too short..I always dock into the tan..ideally the last third is removed..but for a pet it is unimportant..and if you would be happy with a 6 pound pet, you would be happy with an 8 pound pet..reading your post, it sounds like you want breed quality...then go to a reputable breeder with a proven record and look for something older...not under 4 to 6 months IMO... Buying a male first is not smart IMO... |

| YorkieRose is absolutely right! I also would like to correct myself in my first post to this thread.. I actually did not mean over weight, I meant I like to have a larger structure on my females.. Like I mentioned earlier researching the pedigrees on a dog you are thinking about purchasing to breed to me is a requirement..
