If you are looking for a pet, it is one thing and a show/breed is another...as tot he tail, that is in the eye of the beholder..much better too long then too short..I always dock into the tan..ideally the last third is removed..but for a pet it is unimportant..and if you would be happy with a 6 pound pet, you would be happy with an 8 pound pet..reading your post, it sounds like you want breed quality...then go to a reputable breeder with a proven record and look for something older...not under 4 to 6 months IMO...
Buying a male first is not smart IMO...
