| Can pregnancy be longer than 63 days? Can yorkie pregnancy be longer than 63 days. My girl is due today and I don't get any signs of labor. Can you share your experience with me?

| Yes...the average is 61 to 63..but some go 64,65. It may have taken from a later breeding also...if you count 63 from the first breeding and the bitch was bred 3 times you still have days to wait if it was later..I have never has a bitch start whelping naturally at some time and the time is HER time...if all else is fine, no green discharge, she is acting well, then all you do is wait... |

| A vet will tell you to count from the day after the LAST breeding. On what dates did you breed her? Is this her first litter? I have a female that has had a few litters. Her last litter was delivered by emergency c-section because it was about day 67 and no pups....not a single sign of going into labor or pre labor. She was enormous and the pups were growing by the day. I wouldn't panic just yet. The best thing for her would be to be in a dark, quiet room with low lighting. You shouldn't check on her constantly as you can actually prolong her labor. I know first hand that is easier said than done. I put her in a playpen 2 weeks before her due date. Give her newspapers to shred and nest with (they can be thrown away even before the pups are born if you want..I use just blankets, but that seems to be a little more frustrating for her). The nesting usually comes with the signs of pre labor. At this point, try not to interfere too much. I keep the door cracked so I can peek in. I like to get on the computer and just read and re-read info. on whelping and post care. These sites help tremendously with what to expect and warning signs to look for. I could run on and on, but it may be too much info. PM me if I can help in any way. Last edited by Julz; 03-04-2007 at 03:55 PM. |

| Thank you so much. I will try to be patient but I am so nervous. This was an accidental breeding, January 1st "surprise", and now I am trying to take all the responsibility.

| I have vet appointment scheduled in couple hours... I just don't know what to do. My breeding was an accident and was hoping for few weeks that she is not preg...however things don't always go the way you want them to. She still doesn't show any signs of getting ready for labor. Temp is normal, good appetite I am just very worried. The other thing is my vet. He doesn't provide er so I better see him before he closes.

| It was a c-section, one big baby and striving for life. I was rubbing it for couple hours. Now mommy is a little better so she is trying her best. Still too weak to nurse. This is heartbreaking.

| The baby is getting stronger although we have problem nursing. Mom is doing ok and she is a good mommy. We are going for a vet check in an hour... don't know if it is a good idea because it is freezing cold today. Thank you for all of the support.
