| Good Job ! It shows that you really care alot about your puppies as I am sure we all do. Checking their background throughly is a great thing to do. I am very lucky that my husband and I own a collection agency and we do background checks of every debtor we go after, So this is what I intend to use with the people that come to see my puppies. But I am glad that the lady that sold me my gorgeous puppies did not restrick me from breeding. She did do I check on my home, Infact I invited her down for the day, we had a great time and she brought the mom and dad along to spend the day at my home. We keep in touch on a regular basis. My puppies are indoor and have their own bedroom. So it is all in who you choose to have your puppies. I know I will be extremely bias on who gets my children ! I think you did the right thing. This lady sounds pathetic and should not even have any animals. |

| I know this really has nothing to do with me but I just can't help saying how happy I am to hear that some breeders fully accept the responsibility of finding suitable homes for the puppies. I honestly think if a breeder is having too many puppies to be able to take the time, energy & resources to find them a good home, they are having too many puppies. I also agree with not selling to someone who may have the best intentions but is not financially able to provide the care a Yorkie will need. I don't even blame the husband for not wanting to spend a lot of money on a dog if they cannot afford to pay for the necessities of life. Let's face it these little darlings are expensive luxuries. |

| I didn't get yelled at but I upset my sister's workplace. Her boss wanted to see my pups so I sent him a pic and description of each one. He fell in love with a lil girl and wanted to know if I would sell her to him on a trial basis. His wife and he had a terrible experience with a bad breeder once who sold them a pup with parvo. After $2000. worth of vet bills the pup died and the breeder wouldn't even take their calls. He wanted to have the option of paying for her and than possibly returning her after a month and letting me keep $200. for my trouble. His wife was unsure that she wanted another pup even after 2 years and he wouldn't bring her to see the pup, kept saying he wanted to surprise her. We went back and forth because I thought the whole thing was a bad idea and I finally just sold her to someone more suitable. My sister wasn't happy because her boss felt that I had been unfair but I'm not going to have my babies in a home where they won't be loved by all. Sometimes we just have to do what we know is best for the little lives that we are responsible for.

| I totally agree ! I look at it this way. I would not send my puppies home with anyone that I would not trust with my kids, even more so, because our cute little babies depend on us and they cant fend for themselves! |

honey...Checking her background was SO smart and you better not let what she said get to you - You want your puppies to go to a pet home where they'll be LOVED not used as a money maker for these awful people & more power to you !! We need WAY MORE BREEDERS LIKE YOU .......you should stand up and be PROUD OF YOURSELF...and ChestersMom - Keep it up ...I really like reading there are still some breeding that actually can say NO to a sale. I know if I were a breeder I'd be the same way. | |

| Thanks Villette I feel like selling your pups to a person like her would be like selling your kids to a sweat shop. Same difference. She had dogs on the one website with breeds I couldnt even pronounce like the one that was a Bichon mix. Didnt see any yorkies there otherwise she would be selling yorkiedoodles or something. She did take the time to mention she just bought a parti yorkie for 4000.00. I can't imagine anyone selling her a dog knowing what the life of that puppy was going to be like. I am very new to breeding and dont want to be the type that makes anyone mad or anything but I am even getting to the point when someone emails me and says something like: Chance available? How much? and that is all they say, I dont even bother with them. If they can't take the time to introduce themselves and let me know what they are looking for then why bother. Maybe I am turning in to a yorkie snob. My puppies deserve better than that I guess. Barb |

| I am glad there are people who truly care for their puppies I never breed but I truly believe that if you brought them in to this world, furkid or skinkid; we are fully responsible for their well being now and throughout their life. I never had people not letting me buy their puppies and even if there are, I wouldn't be mad so obviously those people have a problem to begin with. I was mad before however for rescues and shelters not letting me adopt a dog simply because I live in a condo; a condo that allowed dog that is. After 3 tries with different shelters, I had enough. It is degrading when people tell you "we do not adopt out our dogs to condos".

| I was always against selling for breeding. I had mentors in the fancy warn me that things get ugly when you sell to breeders, especially the ones you THINK you can trust. Well I thought I knew well enough so I took the chance, sold for a very very fair price with the only strings that 1. I could buy a puppy back for the same price and 2. The male I sold I would have access too when I needed. I drew up a contract, and trusted the person to take the contract home and send me copies and also foward me copies of the registration papers so I could register the litter I had from the male I sold her. After the dogs were in her posession, she turned on me. Started telling lies about me and everything. I can go on and on about this as I am still hurt by how I was tricked. To this day I do not have a copy of the contract I gave her in good faith to return a copy to me nor do I have a copy of the pedigree so I can get my puppies registered. So not only should you be leary of those you do not know, but also those that try so hard to get close to you more than likely have alterior motives. I have not had to s/n every puppy that leaves my home. Most of my puppies have gone to repeat buyers. I do believe in s/n puppies vs s/n contracts. I posted some links months ago showing the benefits of early s/n. I'll see if i can find them and bump up the post. You did the right thing! Hugs, Irene |

| Kudos Breeders!!! You are right not to sell when finances are an issue. For example, we own 2 yorkies and a std. poodle. The poodle was a bit down yesterday. Quiet, unlike himself. This morning when we got up he had a softball size mass over his throat. Panic mode!!! Threw him in the car and wen to the vet within 10 mins of finding the lump. I had no idea what the problem or how much. Turns out his has an infection, from an absessed tooth. We are treating the infection now and will get to the tooth. I was lucky, only a $100 bill and another $100 for the tooth to be removed at a later date. I was going to the vet with our emergency Visa card that we use just in case for the dogs, I was thinking a surgery in the thousands. Many people would have panicked, thought of how tight moeny is, they have already stretched things too far with Xmas gifts and hoped for the best. If I had done that he would be dead this evening (his temp was 104). Pets are luxuries, we need to be prepared or get insurance...something I keep thinking I should get!! lol
