Been there! I was always against selling for breeding. I had mentors in the fancy warn me that things get ugly when you sell to breeders, especially the ones you THINK you can trust. Well I thought I knew well enough so I took the chance, sold for a very very fair price with the only strings that 1. I could buy a puppy back for the same price and 2. The male I sold I would have access too when I needed. I drew up a contract, and trusted the person to take the contract home and send me copies and also foward me copies of the registration papers so I could register the litter I had from the male I sold her.
After the dogs were in her posession, she turned on me. Started telling lies about me and everything. I can go on and on about this as I am still hurt by how I was tricked. To this day I do not have a copy of the contract I gave her in good faith to return a copy to me nor do I have a copy of the pedigree so I can get my puppies registered. So not only should you be leary of those you do not know, but also those that try so hard to get close to you more than likely have alterior motives.
I have not had to s/n every puppy that leaves my home. Most of my puppies have gone to repeat buyers. I do believe in s/n puppies vs s/n contracts. I posted some links months ago showing the benefits of early s/n. I'll see if i can find them and bump up the post.
You did the right thing!
